Zaffer on my mind

So many shoulda’s and coulda’s. I can totally relate to your experience. When we were taking our feral cat to the vet, we were desperate to do anything to save him. We had surgery done, overnight stay and steroids. Looking back now, I see that all of our attempts/treatments made his final days horrible. I agree with you…all he and Zaffer knew were that things they didn’t understand were being done to them. We too, should have let him go because I believe he knew he wasn’t getting better. One thing I have learned throughout that experience is to pay more attention to what they are telling me. I am shedding a few tears for both of us.

Yes. And I'm sad to learn of your similar experience as well, Helena. Due to hindsight, I harbor so many regrets and so much guilt. Naturally, my heart is irreparably broken because Zaf is gone. But as if that weren't enough, I'm also acutely aware that I made some very poor choices and that those poor choices produced a great deal of avoidable suffering for Zaf. His final months could have been so much less terrifying and painful
