Worried about robot vacuum noise spooking my parrot?
I have a Senegal parrot in my living room, and I've been thinking about getting a robot vacuum to keep up with the feather dust and seed hulls. The thing is, I'm concerned the noise and sudden movement might stress him out. He's pretty settled but does startle at the regular vacuum, so I usually move him to another room when I clean. I'm wondering if a robot vacuum running daily would be less disruptive since it's smaller and more predictable, or if the unpredictable roaming would actually be worse. I've seen some models mentioned online as being quieter, but I'm not sure how that translates in a room with a bird. Has anyone here introduced one around their parrot? Did your bird adjust over time, or did you have to schedule it only when they're covered or out of the room? I'd really appreciate hearing what worked or didn't work for you before I spend the money.

All you can do is try it. My parrots don’t even like the broom…so there would be no way to introduce something as scary as a remote vacuum. However, if you only used it at specific times of the day, your parrot may become accustomed to being in the room.

I'm in a similar spot with an African grey in a Madison apartment, and I'm weighing whether a robot vacuum is worth the risk at all. The random start time worries me more than the motor itself, since I can't predict when it'll bump into the cage. I'd probably only run it while I'm home and start with a short schedule in another room to watch his reaction. For the cage area I've been using a quieter cordless instead, and I came across Best Stick Vacuums of 2026 https://ratethepick.com/category/stick-vacuums while comparing options. Has anyone here had a bird settle down after the first few runs?
