I do not have the knowledge to answer your cage suitability question but as I understand it an important factor is the spacing of the bars relative to the size of the occupants.
If your birds are going to be kept in the cage 24hrs a day the then buy biggest cage practicable but if you plan to let them have the whole room to play in and the cage is just a safe haven whilst you are out and place to sleep then overall size is not so critical.
