Dianne I think a better question might be what can't a macaw get into, I am intimidated by their beak

Tony - That is very cool! I had no idea.

Bill - Nike gets more gorgeous by the day, if it's possibe.

Dianne - Brazil nuts are a cinch for Rosie. But she generally doesn't like the nut. The only nut she doesn't break easily is a macadamia. She has, but more often than not she just dumps them.

Kim - I've said it before and I stand by it. The little beaks scare me, they go for blood. It seems the big guys know they are powerful and use slow, grinding pressure. There is time to remove yourself. Of course in my experience, macaws find it very funny to see people jump when they lunge with those big beaks!! Lol

Thanks all for the Nike compliments. She does look better to me too. She has gained 6 grams bring her up to 201 grams which isn't much but I think it is noticeable to me.

Next week is my last week of working before I retire (I work out of town during the week 75% of the time) so after that I hope to get more into proper feeding of Nike. I also found an Avian vet who is only an hour away and she'll be going there for her first checkup since I got her. The credentials look good http://exoticandbirdclinic.com/
    Thanks,
    Bill

Did I mention that this will be my second and hopefully last retirement. Retired after 41 years in 2011 and came right back as a consultant. If I could drive to work I'd probably work another 5 years but I have to get on a plane on almost every monday (3am wakeup)....last one in a few hours. I wont miss it at all

    Thanks!
    Thanks,
    Bill

You and Nike are fortunate. He appears to be an outstanding vet!
He wanted to live. He was my Heaven... He's gone!
