this morning I got keiko out as normal, but this morning she was doing her phone noise lots more then normal.
As soon as she came out on me she was saying things like "hello" "hello keiko" "hello oll-oll" (sisters bird is called olly)
then new things came out like "whos a good girl?" "ha ha ha haaaa" and clicking noises. It shocks me that all this new stuff has come out. all she used to say is "hello" and the phone noise.

Haha this happens often.

My old blue and gold Annie never really talked and then one day she started and didn't stop, she ended up saying over 300 words and phrases. And similar to Keiko she made laughs and small things and then one day a dog was barking and she said bark bark... And then came out bark bark, shut up. I never ever said this I have no idea were she learnt it or made the link between dog and bark bark... She was so intelligent.
The other thing was after she started talking she learnt so quickly. She used to scream coming out of the bird room and it would drive me nuts her screaming on my arm just to make the others jealous, so I would say shh and whisper. So after all this when coming out of the bird room it was no longer screaming it was shh Annie, shhhhhhh lol!

Once young birds start talking, they tend to be able to learn a lot, so try to teach him as much as you can right now. Older birds still learn new words but not as easily I think. When my 2 conures started talking as babies, they went to town!

Although I heard Pete say, "Good girl" the other night. Ha ha, he's a boy, but he hears "girl" a lot more as everyone else in the house is female.

Well Audrey Annie the blue and gold I described was very old when I got her although she learnt anything and everything. I think it is a matter of the bird personally and how they want to advance in there ability to talk, some birds defiantly choose not to talk and do other activities were as others do.

Your amazon is the only boy in the house:p?

I think the owner has a lot to do with it. Pete and Merlin have doubled their vocabularies since coming here. Merlin has probably quadrupled hers as she really didn't talk at all before. This morning she yelled out, "Ohhhhhh, dear!" That was a new one! But, Rowdy can talk in entire paragraphs for 10 straight minutes and my 2 older ones don't do that. She can talk about the strangest things, too. Last week she was talking about property and real estate, lol! My Blue Crown literally never shut up once she started talking. I used to tell her all the time not to talk with her beak full when she was eating.

Yes, Pete is the little prince and the only male in the house. The other two birds, the cat, dog and myself are females.
