We left for our trip a bit after noon. Was planning on finishing packing after spending some cuddle/preening time with Rosie.

Jef scheduled a new roof installation starting at 730 this morning. Lots of strange men and BANGING, which shook the house.

So as Rosie and I start our cuddle session some strange men walk by the window. WHAT??? Stop touching me right now, can't you see there are predators outside who want to KILL us???

The rest of the morning did not go well. First she went between clinging to me and pinching my neck to tell me there was danger and I needed to get us away. Then Rosie decided she only wanted to be on top of her cage with all the blinds closed, screaming insanely to warn the neighborhood . When I tried to get her she freaked out and nailed me pretty good. I left her for a while and retrieved her for our shower. This was not an easy task. She seemed ok but after her blow dry she went to the top of her cage and we had a standoff. She finally took pity on me and went in her cage right around the time we needed to leave.

Bailey my yorkie bichon was also a freaked out shaking mess.

Not the morning I was hoping for. Poor babies. At least the roof was finished by the time we were leaving.

I would love to see a photo of Bailey. Rosie is a smart girl bird.

Sorry to hear about your plight today with Rosie, Kendra. These guys love the comforts of routine and certainly handle things better when all is predictable. I've found that they usually don't care for change! I'm sure that in addition to the roofers invading her domain, Rosie could tell something was up with your preparation for departure. Unfortunately it can devastatingly rock their little worlds when uncommon things happen :(. I'm sure Rosie will be fine... just as she has been each time you've ventured away for a bit :D

Sometimes a little chaos helps us grow, parrots, pooches and people alike. At least the roof is finished and out of the way now! :goodjob:

Tony - agreed, routine is best. What threw her off was the strange men so close and the banging and shaking. Just a bad day to schedule a new roof. We didn't think that one through.

Fortunately, Rosie adores my mom so she will be fine. I was just bummed that I had to leave after such a rough morning.

Penny - isn't that the truth? :)

A[Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks] it would have upset me, too. I always get so nervous when I have to leave my pets, no matter who is caring for them. I don't think I would have liked the strangers and the banging much more than sweet Rosie! Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Your Bailey is precious, it's hard to leave them at least they know your Mom.
