Last summer we had a friend over and we were chatting out on our patio. We were all discussing birds, I was on a laying on a patio ledge and Rosie was walking above me on her hemp rope (about 3 feet above). The ledge is about 10 feet long and I was laying in the middle, on each end of the ledge is a column and Rosie's hemp rope is tied to each end of the columns. Some nights/mornings she walks back and forth over me sometimes flipping upside down and talking to me etc. On this particular evening Rosie was sitting quietly at one end with her back to us and wasn't walking around. Our friend years ago had a green winged macaw and he was telling us how she would poop on command. He was saying that his bird never pooped on him. I was quick to point out Rosie had never pooped on us either. Out of nowhere Rosie began trotting over towards me, assumed the position over my torso and nearly pooped on me. I turned my body quickly and fell onto the patio. Of course we were in hysterics for a few minutes after that. I just couldn't believe it. She had plenty of ledge to choose from yet she marched over to me. What a little stinker she can be!

Do your birds understand exactly what you are saying?

Lol! Thank you for the giggle!!

Yes, for the most part my Rosie understands what I am saying. It always makes me laugh when I am having a conversation and she chimes in with a big nod and Yeah! at the appropriate time. :)

Truly I do not know. Guess the big birds have bigger brains.

I definitely think that birds know what your saying/hinting at. When I open up their room in the morning, I come in singing and clapping and upbeat, they all start stretching their wings and chatting with me, I love it. Little Chip is especially sweet when I talk specifically with him, he KNOWS he's just special right then, he's my special bug :)

:th_hehe: Mare, I'm the same way. I always feel like I'm going to my baby's crib to get her up in the morning. Every morning I sing "You are my sunshine" to Rosie. Every evening when she gets in her cage for bedtime I sing my own rendition (specific to Rosie) of "Good Night Sweetheart" As I'm covering each corner with her sheet she runs along the perch and hangs off the sides of her cage to put her ear closest to me so she can hear the full song, then I kiss her feet and tell her "I luv da bird".... 99% of the time after that she goes to bed and doesn't make a peep until morning. The 1% of the time when she won't go to bed is when she knows there are guests here. She doesn't like that, she wants to be part of the action, so she will laugh hysterically or mumble loudly to herself.
