    Eclipse Monday August 21, 2017

    Hi Everyone,

Hope you are well. I was researching information about the eclipse that will be in America tomorrow. Just wondering if your in the path of totality or have any interest in it at all. This is a link with some information if you are interested: https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/map/2017-august-21
I will be either on the road or at work, we have a meeting so depending on how long it is I'm not sure if I will be in route or standing still. Either way I am hopeful I can be where I can experience it from my vantage point.

    What about you??

I'm nowhere near this one but we had one here a few years ago. We had to go offshore from France to get on the centre of the track but it was well worth the effort.
The sea birds were very confused, not sure whether it was time to sleep or not.
We were very lucky, people a few miles further west had cloud cover as did those who remained onshore at the port we sailed from. Seeing it at sea with a clear horizon all around is the best.

Without publicly giving my precise location (some of you may know where that is), I will say that I am right smack in the path of totality! It's supposed to be clear, too

I'll be interested to see if beaks start grinding away

We should get a partial here, they expect about 70% coverage.
I hope the weather is good.

I remember trying to take photos at the same time as trying not to collide with other vessels who also weren't looking where they were going whilst talking on my mobile phone to my son, a bit of a juggling nightmare. He was in London where they only had a partial eclipse and some cloud cover and wanted to know what it was like. I wonder where the pics are, will have a search if I get time.

Edit: just checked the eclipse map and there is a town called Casper (Wyoming) right on the centre line. How cool is that? I think the whole occasion should now be known as Casper's Eclipse.

WOW! The corona was spectacular! Such brilliant contrast against the darkened sky. I've never seen anything like it... it was truly magnificent!

I took cellphone photos throughout the progression. Unfortunately, the images all came out too saturated for adequate representation of the event. In other words, they each merely look like a photo of the sun . Even at totality, a proper filter is required to capture the detail.

We could see somewhat.....mostly cloudy which hid a lot of it from our view even with the glasses . I have been checking out a lot of still shots and videos on the net. It surely is amazing!

We didn't get to see too much. It did darken very little but nothing substantial. I too have seen some pictures and it looks amazing.

As mentioned, my pictures failed miserably. And I'm sure most of you have seen some of the absolutely breathtaking photos some folks have taken. But you know, as great as many of those are, none of them do justice to what I witnessed yesterday morning in our clear sky above. It was purely incredible!
