Maybe this is over my head, but why would you shovel snow back onto your driveway?

Our snowbanks right now along the driveway are about 5 - 6 feet high and hard to see when you are pulling out. When it is sunny and above freezing we take snow from the banks to lower them and throw on the asphalt driveway to melt.
I guess it really did sound strange.

Now that you've said it that way, it kind of makes sense, although we usually spread it about the yard to melt. Back in my younger days we always built something with it.
