    Raw clean bamboo for perches???

Is it safe to use green bamboo for perches and are the leaves safe for birds???? Should i dry out the bamboo in the over to kill parasites say at 250 to 300 degrees about 15 min and does any one have an old unused cage i might borrow ? Will pay shipping but really want to keep apples seperated when time comes not only to keep her from getting hurt from being kicked out of nest like pumpkin was. I really want her to bond with me one on one. Sorry about asking for extra cage for her to use helping our friends out has made it where i cant get her a cage of her own at present! Thanks hope i have not broken rules by asking this!!!!!

PM me if any one has one if you will!!
    Thank you...

Bamboo is perfectly safe . I have bamboo growing on my Property that I cut and provide fresh, they love to strip the leaves.

I use for perches very durable. Just Make sure that you are using true bamboo !!! Not Heavenly Bamboo (Nandina) Not !!! Lucky bamboo (dracaena) aka dumb cane. Not!!! Japanese Knotweed, (False Bamboo )

Bamboo. You don't need to bake them , as long as their isn't any pesticides sprayed on it, just rinse them they are rot resistant and parasite resistant. They also provide nutritional value. They harden as it ages

The bamboos are a subfamily of flowering perennial evergreen plants in the grass family Poaceae. Giant bamboos are the largest members of the grass family. In bamboo, the internodal regions of the stem are usually hollow and the vascular bundles in the cross section are scattered throughout the stem instead of in a cylindrical arrangement…
    Wikipedia

    Scientific name: Bambuseae

Here's a pic of some I planted up for my Fids in their outside aviary, I also cut some of various size
for the Grass Parakeets to use as perches.

Sassy Goffin's girl, she IS Sassy Amigo, male umbrella cockatoo Chip! The cockatiel! The sweet, sweet Jellybean!
Hmm..I don't know about raw green bamboo for your birds, good question. We have a patch of bamboo on the property and Amigo has spent many hours climbing around in it and survived with no issues but he is a different species than you have..

As far as a cage, if I were you I'd be checking Craigslist and more locally located area newspapers. Shipping from where I'm at could be more expensive than a NEW cage! I wish you luck in finding one, soon!

Casper, a blue fronted Amazon. Loves banana. Hates plastic bags and red coats.
Sorry, can't help with a cage either being in the UK.
Whatever you do, never plant Japanese Knotweed in your garden. It is highly invasive in the UK and nothing stops it spreading, not even concrete. It is now legally outlawed as antisocial but not illegal to have in UK gardens. Specialist firms charge an arm and a leg to remove it from your property.

1 1/2 year old DNA tested male Lovebird- Nash
My birdies love bamboo! I order mine online since they don't grow naturally around here, by Nash destroys it in a matter of days and they perch on it for hours! I highly recommend it!
