    Keeping budgies separate

Hi guys, I am going to get a budgie soon, and I have read that you should only get 1 if you want it to bond with you. However (I won't do this until I have had my budgie for a while) since budgies all have different personalities, if i wanted to get another one,( for double the awsome) could i keep it in a different cage in the same room, or would they bond with each other? Is different cages enough or do they need to be in different rooms to stay separate? the reason I want to keep them apart is I have heard of budgies becoming less freindly when housed with others. ( I dont know this to be true I have no experience) Im just curious i couldnt find the answer anywhere.
    Thanks in advance!

I can only guess because I don't have the experience with budgies. Birds like to bond up with their own kind and if the budgie bonds up with you..it might remember you down the road but it's going to go hang out with his own kind..I'm just guessing this to be true

    Bonding/Taming Budgies

I don't think you should have a problem keeping 2 Birds . Just work with both Birds consistently . Start out giving your new birds time to adjust, let them settle into your routine for about a week. Then gradually start handling in the beginning let them get used to your hands . Keeping short sessions as to not stress them to much.

I think amazon is your best bet. If you have Prime all the better.

If you are going to keep them together. I would go with a larger cage.

You may pay more in the long run. But actually, it still would be cheaper than getting 2 smaller ones. I'll help you look.
Will post as I come across one. I need some info first.

    #1 = Color preference
    #2 = style
    #3 = your maximum budget
    #4 = 1 or 2 cages.

I personally would keep them together. But of course the choice is ultimately yours

If you can purchase the budgies at the same time. When you put them in the new cage together, you wont have cage dominance issue. Get their new home/cage setup first. Then go get your budgies, which you may possibly afford to get since you would only be having to buy one cage! Put them in together. They'll be fine, and all the happier for it!

In my humble opinion... in all the years of keeping various species of birds, I've never had a problem with my birds not bonding with me. In fact I think they are better well adjusted ,when they have their own kind to interact with. After all they imprint with us out of default. And we are sorely lacking in the social interaction that they get from one another.

    Hope this helps !

Thanks for your help! I don't really care about color as long as it is fairly neutral and safe for the bird, style- whatever is best for the bird, my budget is as low as possible, with a max I'm hoping for 55 or under, but I will go up to 60 ish if I HAVE TO. I'm actually most comfortable with stuff 45 or under. I understand this is very limiting but it is what it is. I also want to mention I would like 1 cage not 2, but I will probably just get 1 budgie for now, and later on (a while) I could get another and it's own cage, I have decided I want to start with 1 since I haven't had a parrot for a long time, I know it would be better to get them at the same time but it will work out.
    Thanks The Pinkertons! And everyone!

I also will need to find some good budgie toys to keep my new budgie occupied, could I get enough toys for 30$? I guess I will need a perch, a swing/rope, some chewable ring things, or anything else you think would be best ( all on amazon) again is 30 enough? And I will Need some seed and pellets, and budgie treats, I would like to, with budgie and all, stay close to 100 to 120. If these are unreasonable expectations let me know!
