    Large Feather

Should I be concerned? I was picking up and found this feather at the bottom of Charlie's play gym. I checked him over he is not bleeding or anything. He has not lost any large feather since we have had him and I can't quite tell where it has come from. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully the picture of the feather is posted below.

It looks like a molted feather to me. Not damaged or bloody and the shaft looks intact.

I am not sure what age cockatoos start with their first molt. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable about toos will chime in soon.

It's a beauty. No worry over one or two feathers. It's a gift to you.

Thank you. So I matched it up to his tail feathers and it is a tail feather. I spoke with our breeder Christy and she said he is probably due for his first good molt I feel like he just got his big boy feathers in!

Kendra, thank you for the information I was happy that I did not see any blood. Dianne you are right it is a gift I have it in my pen holder on my desk

Casper has twelve butt feathers on a good day. Count quickly when Charlie fans his tail.

I think all of mine are molting at once. I feel like I run around with a dustbuster in my hand 24/7.
