Tonight I came home to the sound of a panicked cat. I rush in the house to see my Autistic sons 15 year old cat scream one more time then go into a Major Grand Maul Seizure, followed by at least 4 more lesser ones in the next hour. When he came out of the last one I feel that he may have had a stroke also. He can not walk and falls to one side. His coat has become rough in the last month and we knew his time was running short. As it is this cat has burned through way more then 9 lives to get this old! Any ways I will be sitting with him tonight. I am so glad both of my kids went to sleep over at other peoples houses. My son at his Grandparents where they are talking to him and preparing him for the worse...

So sorry to hear about your son's cat. Poor baby, I hope he is not in too much pain. I can understand the importance this cat can have to your son. I hope it goes well and your son can adjust to this.

I got a rescue cat for my son when he was 11 yrs old. Serena lived to be18 yrs old. Of course by the time my son was grown, she was so used to living with us, we kept her when he moved to Alaska.

:th_crycry: Hoping kitty pulls through. It is really tough when our pets get sick and so so sad.

Max is still with us this morning. But it will not be for long I fear. He will not drink and when I take him out of the cage he yells and just crashes sideways into things. My son asked to be able to come home tonight and help me make the choice....

Aahhh...I'm sorry Shelly. Hopefully she will not suffer too long. Sending hugs to both you and your family. :th_hug8:

No, he wont suffer. I have a vet tech who is ready to come by the house tonight after my son gets home to put him to rest if needs to happen. If he is resting well today and seems calm I will take him to the vet Friday if needed. We have a slim hope that he can make it back. We had another cat who did. There brains heal so much faster then ours.

I'm so sorry to learn about your son's cat, Shelly. It certainly sounds as if he may well have experienced a stroke. That's quite sad :(. My Military Macaw had a stroke in 2011 and came out of it partially paralyzed (he couldn't use his foot on one side or stand for more than a few seconds without toppling over). He's old - probably at least in his 40's. But although I was certain he would die, he was able to rehabilitate himself and is now in very good shape for a stroke parrot. But, of course, he's a Macaw... and as we all know they have very long lives, unlike cats :(. Plus the recovery potential depends largely upon the extent of brain damage a stoke happens to produce and precisely which part(s) of the brain is(are) affected.

I wish your cat, your son, and you the very best conclusion to this horrible ordeal, Shelly. Please take good care... and please update us when you can.
