Used Cage & Stand: $140.00
Gas To Get There & Back: $25.00
Road Trip With The Hubby & Kids: PRICELESS!
So we went on a little road trip last Tuesday to check out a small cage and tree stand for Quincy. It was on craigslist but was an 1 1/2 hours away! But we live in Vermont, to get anywhere it's a road trip so we are used to it. I got the cage and stand for $140 bucks. She was asking $200! I thought this was pretty good as the cage is in great condition and the stand is, too.
We currently have a cheaper Midwest cage for Quincy at work. I wanted something that looked nicer and that would get him up off the floor as the Midwest cage goes all the way to the floor. This cage is small but we allow Quincy to come in and out of his cage freely while at work because he is behind the counter. About 5 feet behind my work computer. It measures 5 feet tall and it has 24"x20"x40" living space. It is a Kaytee cage. I didn't even know they made cages! I'm not sure the brand of the tree stand.
I have a Midwest cage for Savannah that her previous owners gave us and I plan to put both Midwest cages on our porch at home so the birds can hang out outside on nice days!
So do you think I got a decent deal?
Also, I've scrubbed both down with soap and water and a little bleach. I rinsed them thoroughly. They also sat in the hot sun yesterday for 2 hours. I also steamed cleaned them today for an extra precaution. Any other suggestions of anything else I should do to clean these before my little buddy uses them? The previous owners bird has passed away quite a few years ago and she just has had it in storage. She is moving to Alaska and didn't want to drag it with her. She didn't know how old her bird was and thinks it was old age. But I want to be cautious anyway!
