My little parakeets seem to love broccoli. I give them the broccoli raab and you should see how they devour the veggie. Here are before and after pics.

That s awesome! Do they eat other veggies as eagerly?

My budgie flock love anything green I put in their bowl to eat. They don't touch it if I try to get them to eat the cooked mixes or breads. But fresh broccoli or greens & they go to town on it!

They do eat the greens well except for dandilion leaves. I also cook corn on cob and hang in the cage per breeders suggestion to help keep wt. on them. The rest of the veggie family usually goes untouched as does any fruit.

Steve you little guy does look like Chipper. Chipper has a larger head because he is Engllish. Are you breeding keets?

That's great that they love their greens! Dianne, I noticed you have a Maine Coon kitty.:). We had one for several years, it was my brothers and he was moving out of the country so we took him in, his name was Tiggy. Big, beautiful cats! Every summer, though, his furry sides would mat up, they were like flaps of felt that slowly peeled away, weird, and brushing didn't help. The mats would be so tight to his skin that I couldn't even get a clipper under it! Do you experience this with yours?

I use a metal comb on my kitty most every day and the furminator in the spring when she sheds. Main Coone kitties are so laid back and easy going I just love the breed. She was never interested in Rosie my TAG but she sure goes after the parakeets. Now I must put her in aanother room with the door closed when birds are out. Do you have a photo of tiggy?

Mare: Yes she is Maine Coon and so sweet & laid back. She never bothered or cared about Rosie, my TAG, but she sure loves to chase the keets. I always have to put her in another room when the birds are out..

One time at a cat show I met a blind cat groomer and he taught me to always groom a long haired cat with a metal comb. I comb her just about every day and in shedding season use the furminator to help along with the comb. Cristine gets no mats because of the grooming. It was amazing to me to watch a man groom a cat perfectly and have no vision.

Dianne, I know I have photos of Tiggy on my other computer. I'll try and get them out. Our cats around here have always been outdoor cats, we love them but they are mostly outdoor. Tiggy was brushed but maybe not as often as you brush yours and I've never met a long haired cat that had that peculiarity. My husband is an avid history reader and I'll have to ask him, but he read something written in the 1800's where a Main Coon cat was mentioned and they called these flaps of fur being likened to bat wings! That's about right when seeing our Tiggy in the summer!
