She's super cute! Amazons kind of scare me, I think it's their eyes but I know they can be loving just by hearing you folks talk about them. :)

Alot of people are a little timid of Amazons, I think its their bad reputation :(

Beautiful pics Brandy:)

It seems Cosmo is just like Codie! I am also the only one that can do anything with him.

Its funny how different Birds scare different people. Mare mentioned that Amazons worry her. I am always quite worried around Cockatoo's :(

I agree Wendy. Cockatoos seem a little intimidating to me, but I havent been around many of them.

She is gorgeous....Amazons don't intimidate me but cockatoos do and I've been around them. I am used to watching a bird's body language and the cockatoos I've been around tend to not show signs...just snap and with that scissored beak on the bottom, it sure hurts like the dickens when you get bitten.

Delta, thats what freaks me out, you cant read their body language. I would have gotten a few good bites to the face from Elliot if I wasnt able to read his body language. Too's are slightly scary haha.

i took some better pics of Cosmo tonight but I dont have time to post them until tomorrow.

Cockatoos, to me, are very easy to read,,,now. Amigo being my first, definitely took a while, (he scared me to pieces!) but worth the time. My U2 and Goffin's are so different in many ways and yet very similar in their cockatooness. By the time Sassy came along, she was very easy for me to read, they are very expressive birds, in face and body.
I've never lived with other species of birds, if I didn't have my hands full with these two, I would sure like to give it a try. Maybe someday!

Cosmo is a real beauty! She looks so coy in her photos. You can see the sweetness in her pics.:th_hug8:

I love Amazons even tho I don't keep them. My very first larger parrot was an Orange Wing re-home I got way back in '92. He came with a lot of baggage of course, plus not being let out of his cage by the last two previous owners. He never did like being held, but I could take him out & scratch his neck. It took 6 months of diligent stick training to get to that point.

During that time I also got a Green Cheek Zon that I suspected was a very old smuggled in breeder bird by the story the previous owner told of getting him. He never cared to interact with me or any other bird. Never played with toys, rarely ever made noise, never talked & did not like to be held or touched. He was the most unassuming bird I ever owned. he much preferred to sit alone quietly, but he had a very healthy appetite. I did train him to be held, but he couldn't wait to get back on his play perch by himself. Neither Zon was a plucker despite their obvious neglect in their former homes.

I know a Yellow Nape Amazon who is around 35 yrs. old. Marco is the resident bird at a small locally owned pet shop I have been going to since they first opened up & before the owner got Marco. Even tho I don't frequent the store often anymore, when I am in there Marco follows me on his hanging perch. It has a wooden island keeping shoppers from getting close to him. Others can be talking to him & I am looking at bird things, but he will keep going around in a circle trying to get my attention. Of course I have never held or touched him, but he has always liked me & done this when I'm in the store. Funny how birds remember a person. :th_biggrin:

De'Andrea, I dont think Ive ever seen a Green Cheek Zon, I need to go google, haha.

Terri, I think its been Elliot who has boosted my confidence level, LOL
