I give crushed Rose Hips to our Chinchillas as a treat. And I got to thinking....could I give a piece to Hobbit? Has anybody ever given them as a treat? I have not given any to him,and I will not until someone weighs in on them.

There are many fowers that are safe for birds. I have yet to try them. Do you dry the rose petals or give them when they are soft??

Humans can use rose hips in their tea. I have never used fresh one, but I have bought tea bags with it added. It had an interesting flavor.

I don't use any kind of flowers for my birds only because I don't have any fresh growing ones available. I don't have time to keep a garden.

Rose hips are the fruit and seed pods that form on the bush after it flowers. As long as they aren't covered with with pest spry they are very safe for birds
