I recently started juicing veggies and I'm convinced it is the healthiest way to go nowadays with our food chain's lack of nutrients.
I do broccoli, carrots, cukes, asparagus, spinach or kale, 1/4 lemon, 1/2 beet, 1 stick celery, one green apple, and one orange. You can use almost any veggie.
The really neat thing is the pulp that remains is great for the parrots. They love it and mine actually share my juice with me. It is so nutritious for them. I couldn't believe when I got my blood work done my cholesterol was 164 which is awesome. The other great thing about it is it takes away your cravings for junk food and sweets. I guess when our bodies get the proper nutrition they don't crave bad stuff. Has anyone tried juicing? I think I will always do it....just 12 ounces a day is all I drink. 681

I love the carrot/ginger juice. Ginger is good to add for the birds as well as people.
I LOVE to juice! I use to do a cleansing one of cucumber, beets, zucchini, celery and carrots, delicious! Juicing is so healthy for you, it allows your body to intake the nutrients without having to work so hard on digesting. For Christmas, I was was given a Nutri-Bullit blender/juicer, I love it! It's a high powered blender that turns whatever you put into it, into juice but you also have the fiber needed.

I've never tried juicing, but with my now becoming more advanced work out routines I have been thinking about trying it. I know a few people who have the bullets and they love them!

Weird you brought this up....this is something Ive been seriously considering since I hate all veggies and fruits. But its mostly texture for me so this way I could still get the nutrients but wouldnt have to eat all that yucky stuff!

I use my juicer for processing blackberries/raspberries for jam. It make the most amazing juice. I haven't tried veggies in it, but I think I will be soon :D

I haven't made any for the birds yet. I do fix homemade frozen lime slushies & if I have a fresh pineapple for the birds, I will cut some up & make pina coladas minus the alcohol.
I'm sure my ekkie would love that kind of stuff. She loves anything soft & mushy she can sink her beak into.
Thanks for the tip on healthy living for both us & our feathered kids.

I love juicing too! I have had my machine for 2 years and love it. I have fun trying the recipes that came with the machine and have tried some original creations myself. Sometimes they don't taste as sweet as I like but I drink it anyways even if it makes me pucker..lol. :th_gag:
The Swiss chard, in our garden, is asking to be snipped! It is ready and willing to be devoured. When outside watering, this morning, I plucked a couple of bunches, brought it in and made the most amazing smoothie in my Nutri-bullet! It was chopped Swiss chard, one half each of a zucchini and a cucumber, half an apple, half a banana, handful of frozen blueberries, about 10 raw almonds and a heaping Tblsp. of ground flaxseed. You have to add liquid before juicing, your choice. DELICIOUS! Sassy was on my shoulder during the making process. While drinking this concoction, she kept pulling it from my mouth, to hers, she loved it!
Carrie, if you add apple or banana it will help with sweetening!
