He looks good with them,
I don't know if they are poisonous, I hope not! He has chewed on practically everything on the property, this includes poison oak, apricot, lime, walnut, grape, eucalyptus, oak, elm and palm trees, and still thrives! He's a strong bird, for sure!
Oh! I forgot to add redwood, as in house!

How do yu keep the bird from flying away? I know they can fly with wings clipped too. Lovely photos.

Dianne, if you go to free flight section on this forum, you can read Amigo's story. He flys but doesn't go far. He comes in when I ask him to but I allow him freedom during the day, well, except during hawk migration time. That's another story for another day!
Mare, he is gorgeous!!
ugh, looking at pics of him makes me wish i was home with my umbie D: 3 more hours!!! >_<

Geraniums can actually be eaten by birds. Amigo is looking lovely!
It's truly a beautiful sight when he jumps into the blooming lilac bushes! I have photos of him in them but they are on my other camera. Here is the bush, anyways.

Beautiful lilac bush I can no longer grow them because of moving to Fla. Too hot and humid. Sorry I am a garden nut as well

I really enjoyed the photos. I always thought the red Cardinal looked so nice in contrast to the white snow but seeing Amigo in amongst the red is really a sight too! Now there's a thought, I should look for birds that compliment my flowers. Let's see now....what kind of bird would go with my petunias....hmmm :glee:

I love the photos, so funny!
Lilacs are definitely safe to eat :)
He is so funny to watch when he jumps into these plants. I'm thinking there may be some chemical the plant gives off that makes Amigo feel good. He likes to rub himself all around before taking off. There is definitely something about the bushy leaves that he likes. Maybe he is just cleaning the dust from his feathers?
