Poor Oliver is covered in pinnies. He always looks like he is near death's door when he molts.

Ramsay is covered as well. Funny though, he never molts the body and the head at the same time.

Casper has more spikes than a porcupine around his head at the moment. He expects us to be on 24hr preening assistance duty. :)

Helena: Will he let you help him break away the sheaths? I actually enjoy cracking away the pin sheaths on my guys. In know that some birds object to such assistance, though.

No, he is one of my untouchables. I do spray him and that seems to get them dried out quicker. My Sennie likes to have his pinnies cracked and will sit there with eyes closed as I crack them.

Poor Oliver! You must be dying to get a hold of him. I'm glad the misting helps.

Rosie is going through a heavy molt now as well. She actually has a little bald spot right between her eyes at the moment. Like Casper, she expects a lot of preening from me. And like Tony, I like doing it. Especially her tail feathers. Not allowed to do her wings or belly though. :)

Casper only likes having his head and neck done and growls and snaps if we get it wrong, then lets us carry on again straight away. We are not allowed to touch his tail at all. :)

What is it with the tail? Maybe because the sheaths seem to be thicker? If I tried to touch any of my birds on their tails I would have to towel them. Same as my cats though....stay away from the backside!

Funny, Rosie is fine with me doing her tail. I have to remove the sheaths differently than her neck/head. Instead of cracking them, I peel the tail sheaths from one side to the other. I do the same with whatever the thick piece inside is called. She pretty much leaves them for me to do.

Maybe she doesn't mind bc her tail is so long? I'm not really getting close to her body. I know amazons tails are a bit shorter. Thinking that could be the difference. Or Rosie is just really spoiled/lazy and can't be bothered with her long tail. Lol
