Kendra went to the Bahamas, we went to Chatham.
It was free for us because we keep our boat moored their. Casper stayed on board whilst M and I went round the amusements.

Casper loves staying on the boat, probably because while we are on board we can never be more than thirty feet away.

We either get seedless grapes or cut the seeds out before giving them to him.

Not very many traction engines were there, its probably a bit early in the season.

A lot of people got into the spirit of the occasion and dressed up in Victorian clothing.

Steam Punks ([Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks]) by Jean-Pierre Declemy ([Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks]), on Flickr
And a lot dressed up in Steam Punk gear (some sort of Mad Max fan thing - I think)

All the fun of the fair ([Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks]) by Jean-Pierre Declemy ([Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks]), on Flickr
All the rides were free, the beer tents weren't.

Lots of music and dancing - this lot were Steam Punk Morris dancers. (Morris dancing is an old English thing involving dancing and big sticks)

Classic line up ([Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks]) by Jean-Pierre Declemy ([Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks]), on Flickr
There were lots of classic cars and vans, quite a few were American but you know what they look like.

Looks like Casper had a good time. We have something similar here...steam powered tractors, vintage cars, food cooked over open fires and tractor pulls. It's great to see history kept relevant by having these shows. Instead of steam punk dancing we have cloggers.
Is this a yearly event for you?

Oh the pics are great. Love steam engine trains!!! Casper enjoying himself just hanging out with special room service is wonderful. Having a change of scenery is always a great idea!

Helena, yes they do it every year, and later in the year they have a 1940's weekend. It was too cold for Casper to spend time outdoors which was a shame. The previous Sunday he spent all afternoon relaxing in the cockpit.

That looks like so much fun. I don't know of anything like that here.

Awesome pics as usual!

I think all you need as a starter kit is a bit of imagination, black clothes, a brim hat with a pair of welding goggles on and a pair of butterfly wings with swirly art nouveau design.

Looking forward to the pics :)
