For my bigger birds, I use the smaller collapsible dog crates with a rope perch. Maybe Kendra will let you know what she uses to transport Rosie.

For vet trips (etc) I use the travel kennels. I have two sizes and I tend to use the smaller ones most often. When inside, their tails have to curl around a bit. But they straighten right out as long as they're not locked in too long. I have some of the larger travel kennels as well. They're quite a bit bulkier though.

I used to have a clear acrylic very large bird carrier for Rosie. It was really heavy and cumbersome though. It was stored in my garage and got broken and I can't say I was sad about it.
My plan was to get a pak o bird but they are just super pricey and if Rosie destroyed it Jef would kick us both out.
So I settled for a collapsible dog crate. I actually used my yorkie-bichons crate in an emergency and it worked well. So I got Rosie her own. She has an XL one that I use rarely and not to carry her in. It is almost bigger than me. So she has a small one for travel. What I like is her tail can stick out. In the acrylic carrier her tail got bent and stayed that way. Even if she was only in it for 20 min or so.
You can get a crate for under $30 on Amazon.
Here are a couple pics I just took of it. Sorry if it's blurry and messy. Rosie hasn't gotten off me since we got home last night so I was juggling her while taking them. The mess is bc She hasn't been in it since the fall so the top has been a storage area for her extra toys.

Years ago I had called Midwest to find out why type of wire they used for those cages. It has been quite a few years and if I remember correctly it is zinc wire they use that has a coating over it which the Macs can chip through with their strong beaks so that was never a consideration here.
The carrier I like is by Marchioro because they had one with the grates on all the windows as one that I picked up had the holes cut in the back and shall we just say Kalea modified it to her liking? Problem with this brand is it was made in Italy and a couple of years ago stores stopped selling it. Was it because it did not meet the airline safety requirements as it had latches on it which could be knocked off????? If you can still find it out there on the internet, you want the size 4 which is large enough for a Mac but does not allow the bird to spread the wings and get broken if there is an accident or something
