I went back to work in November after a 6 month retirement because my boss, who is also my friend needed me. Now I've spend 3 days at home over the last month and I miss my animals. My wife takes Nike out almost every day so she's not affected but I miss all the lounging around I did with them last summer for the first time in my life.

I plan to "cut back" significantly in 6 weeks and cant wait. While I love what I do for work I really love all the playing i did last summer more ;)

Well bill-e that's quite understandable. Who wouldn't want to hang out and do what they want when they want and share their time with the ones they love. That's what I intend on doing when I retire.
It is great that you are helping your friend, but not so easy to have it both ways.

I retired early 2 years ago. However, as much as I love hanging out with my animals, it seems like I am never done with "work" at home. I would probably enjoy a few hours of outside work. I guess it all has to do with balance.
Bill, you will probably appreciate your time at home more now.

I've been on the road for the last 20 years....More than at home.

I left my job when my father passed to take care of my mom who suffers from dementia. As rewarding as it is, I do miss the time outside the home. Don't get me wrong I would do it all over again if I had to, without a doubt. Sometimes you just need that outside contact to keep up with the real world.
