So baby girl is a harlequin macaw that I adopted from the rescue I work with about A year ago. She came in with a lot of issues that were very severe and she hated everyone but me. So let's start her story a little,

We got a call about a harlequin and a red lored amazon that needed picked up ASAP so one of our volunteers went and decided to do this. The birds came with nothing and really had nothing at all in there cages. The red lored was sweet and so was baby at first, but then the honeymoon was over lol. She got extremely aggressive towards almost every volunteer even attacking one ladies chest. I had no issues with baby girl though she loooooved me.( she did go after me at times but was much more flexiable with me.) And I loved her there is something about pluckers and mutilaters that takes my heart away and I fall for them. Soo a month went by and baby was getting less attention from other staff and progressing worse as people were afraid.when baby bit that ment blood was getting spilt lol. Soo I was asked to take her home. I have had her home now awhile she is great besides a few small issues. Her plucking has become less severe and she is a happy girl.

I'd like to say please give your birds plenty of toys and stimulation because this is what can happen when you don't...

She is happy now and this is the true rewards of rescue seeing these birds that are given up on flower and blossom to become amazing. If all I can ask is that you learn please make your birds play with toys and give them things to do. There are many cheap at home toys you can make and give for hours of enjoyment.

I love her dearly and just wanted to share a little about her most recent, a little way of getting you guys to know me and my birds a little better:)

This is babygirl when i first got her, This was within the first week of her coming home.

and there is babies story in short and some pictures of my wonderful girl. She has florished and became so much more loving and appriciative of what i do for her. We are working on socilaizing her and taking her to educational outreaches but this has been slow, she doesnt try to bite everone she sees now just grips me hard and is biting a bullet not to be bad lol!

thanks everyone, Justin

Thank you everyone! i cant begin to tell you how much comments like this mean:)

@kalidasa she is very adoreable but she is defiantly a tyrant and i bet youd think differently if you met her lol she is defiantly a macaw for a expirenced hand per say.

I just got so fed up and still am with people at the rescue proclaiming how much of a horrible bird she was or others, they all deserve the chance and can change and baby is a proven example, but no matter how many times i prove to them any bird can change aggresive, plucking, wild caught rude comments are still made...

WOW what a positive change in her :) She actually has feathers now !!! [she must be so happy with you ] The love of a Macaw is unlike any other :) :) . You should share more plucking stories that you have been able to see progress in.

She is lovely Justin. Thank you for seeing her inner beauty.:th_heart: It sounds like maybe the people there need to rethink their thinking. That negativity is not good, and doesn't really go with rescuing. Maybe you can change their way of thinking by your example. Let's hope, for the sake of the others.:th_hug8:

@pinky I can do that, I'll start working on some although I may not have pictures as they are not in my house but I've worked with them!:)

@carole I have tried hard believe me, I am just going to go out on my own with rescuing it seems because I can't stand that kind of actions or negativity as well, if I went on my own I could endorse what I believe and not be negative and give everything a chance to thrive instead of placing labels you know what I mean:)... Thanks a lot Carole it means a ton!

@crazybirdlady thanks a lot!
@anyone I may have missed thanks so much!

Justin - Thanks for posting her story! You work so well with these birds. Any rescue is lucky to have you as a volunteer. I think starting your own would be a great idea and surely a positive experience for any bird you take in. Although I know if you start your own it would be a tremendous amount of work! Baby is cute as can be. It is so nice that she found a home with you. You are both lucky to have each other! Thanks for sharing!

She is so pretty. I get so upset when I see parrots with out toys, They can be so cheep to make. There has been times before my divorce where I was shopping for toys for my kids and my parrots at thrift stores and yard sales because I could not afford new ones. I mean come on how hard is it to make paper balls and put seeds in clean cardboard egg cartons?!
