So we have been trying to pet Teka and Ruthie with the new harness in our hand. Being an adjustable harness we were not sure if it would fit both of them. Well it was too large for Teka but it fit Ruthie pretty well.

So we went out in the light rain to see how she would do. She did GREAT. We only spent about 15 minutes outside to prevent overwhelming her.

She tried to fly, but she didn't get very far with the strap attached to me.
Though she is clipped, she can still make it from her stand in the living room to her cage on the other side of the room. But anything beyond that is too far for her. At this point we do not expect to clip her again when she molts. But if her actions/habits change we are always ready to reconsider that. She only leaves her stand when she gets scared. We like that she has the comfort of flying to safety when she needs to. With that, there are no window hazards and we do what we can to keep the overall
injury risk low.

She's beautiful. We are trying to get my eclectus (Lucy) used to her aviator harness so we can take her outside also. My husband has his gardens and would love to be able to take her out with him. It's slow going though.

So I managed to get the harness on Ruthie by myself since Jenna is not here. It was actually easier that I expected, but only because she decided to stay calm for me.
My brother texted me that he happened to be at the playground a few hundred feet from our place. So that's why I wanted to quickly get it on her and head over there with her so his kids could experience her. It was a great surprise for them. Ruthie finally stepped up for him too. Since she has been with us she has been reluctant to step up for anyone but Jenna and I. So today seemed to be a great day for everyone. :th_yah:.
This is her with my brother....he has had no experience with birds until we got ours.

Hey great, Steve :). The look on your brother's face is like: "okay nice bird... you just stay there near my wrist. Please!" ;)

Steve - That is great! She is beautiful. The look on your brother's face is great! LOL! I'm glad you got her to cooperate! I am working with both my birds and hope to have one of them in a harness soon! Time will tell!

That is awesome !! I've had the harness on Shiloh (cag) and took him out twice, but the hawks around here scare me too bad.

What harness is that? I have been having such a hard time with my Greenwing Rosie and her harness. Your harness is different so maybe if I tried a new one, she might let me give it a try? Your bird is beautiful by the way!!!

She probably stepped up for your brother because she was out of her territory, my birds are more likely to step up for others when they're out of their element as well, just like we act a little different when we step out of our comfort zone.
Your brother doesnt look so sure, haha.
