Luckys 1st beach trip

He did enjoy him self and he got over excited a few times but he did so many new things and saw so many new things it was kinda expected lol i plan on trying to get out more with him

Lets see yes he came to me with them clipped somnthing im never having done again as far as him flying hes taken flight a couple times in the house from his play stand to the couch i dont think he ment to do it but he was ok after landing ....i dont think hed ever flowen before and im trying to teach him which is alot harder than it sounds lol im trying to get him used to the fact he has wings and they work diffrent when wind is under him i also point out the wild birds flying when he can see them and let him know he can do that too

Jenn, I'm not sure if you were around when I had my Umbrella Cockatoo, Amigo. I did free fly him and when he was "learning", I could tell he hadn't much practice before. It took him a few months to really turn pro! :)

I tjink i joined a little after that thoe i did read all your stories about him. Im tryimg to build up his courage and confidents he seems scrad to let go of me to take off and fly i know he can do it ive been getting him used to the wind under his wings and such things just getting him used to being out and about

Don't try and force him, never, ever. If Lucky trys to fly off from you be his support system. Let him know you are there for him. Don't push him into something he's not ready for, he'll let you know when.

We tried getting Casper to fly towards us but the only thing he learned was to say "come on then" and "come on" until we go and fetch him.
He does fly onto us when we don't want him to - like when we are going out - canny bird :)

I'm presuming by "take off and fly" you mean on a tethered harness, correct?

Goodness of course on his harness lol i would never let him fly without proper tools

I agree thoe i do encourage him to fly i get all excited and let him know he can do it if he wants and that im always there for him.... i also point out the other birds flying and let him know he can do that just like thoes birds and that seems to get him flapping lol

Ha ha ha thats great lucky has been trying super hard to talk more to us hes trying to say ill be back somthing we tell him everytime we leave home and ive been trying to get him to say jen or jenny to replace the name of the pervious lady he was close too and boy hes come along way in the half a uear ive had him

It's always good to hear about Lucky. I'm really happy that you two are enjoying each other so much. Macaw's were my first love when it comes to parrots. I hope if there should ever be a large one in my future that I will be able to make him or her as happy as you and Lucky.
