We are still getting snow and still shovelling. Here are some pics of our backyard. I throw out my bird's leftover food from the day before. We have two black walnut trees which had resulted in numerous squirrels. There are black, grey and white squirrels. I wasn't able to get any pics of them. We call the backyard" squirrel central".475147504752

Oh, what beautiful scenery. But hey, do I dislike cold and snow! We just got our first a few days ago and today woke up to a drizzling "wintery mix" which has frozen all my car doors shut. Poo. For the last two winters, I was in Australia, enjoying summer.

Today, I am wishing I was back there!

I love the changing of the seasons, however, the thought of Australia in the winter has me daydreaming.

Lovely pics, we usually get your weather cast-offs after about three weeks, so too late for a white Christmas.
A smear of vaseline on the door seals should help prevent them sticking. Forcing the door open and tearing the seal can be expensive. A lot more expensive than a jar of vaseline.

Okay, I finally got them. For you Helena, I did get one of a squirrel sitting on top of the post last week.

Beautiful photos, ladies! That's a lot of snow! We've had rain for a couple of days but the snow is higher up..the ski resorts are happy :). This morning was severe clear and 24 Fahrenheit..brrr..

Love the winter look and the snow as long as I don't have to shovel. We had a small dusting last night into the early morning hours. The tree had a small covering of ice all over them and everything just sparkled in the morning sun. No pics tho.

We also had some trouble with our heater so we have been pretty busy with the repair calls and fixings. All is well now.

I sure love the pics you ladies took. It sure beats the "city" pics of house and cars.

I grew up mainly in Toronto, so living in the country was a bit of an adjustment, but I love it now.

Grey squirrels are an introduced species in the UK. They have forced the native red squirrels out of most of mainland England and now they are an endangered species here surviving only in a few places, mainly offshore islands. Grey squirrels are cute but the reds were cuter/more cute with tufty ears. I haven't seen a red since I was a kid.
I don't know if this is a pastime in America but over here people have great fun making it hard for squirrels to reach the bird feeders

That poor squirrel. Yes, we have the same problem here with the grey squirrels running off the black and white ones. If someone could invent a bird feeder that was truly squirrel proof, they would make a fortune.

We don't get very many squirrels here. I only see about 10 a year. Now that I think about it I used to see more in the city. At first I thought it was because we had a large dog, but Lucky has been gone for about 6 years now and still not many squirrels. Hmmmm

Funny video. It doesn't matter to us if they help themselves to whatever we put out for them. I often see both birds and gray squirrels snacking together here.
