View Full Version : Getting Ready for Our Evil Halloween

Halloween is my favorite holiday. I am a kid a heart, so a day of dressing up, acting silly and eating candy is heaven for me.
Rosie and I usually dress up as a pirate and mate but I felt like that was getting old. I got my son some scars to add to his (nonexistant) costume of a football player hoping to spice (& gore) it up a bit. He refuses to use them.
So....I decided to use one of the face scars and blood and have a parrot politically incorrect Halloween. Rosie is EVIL this year...he he he!! Actually, the evil girl was terrified of my face at first, now she is just annoyed by it.

Yes, Rosie was not happy. First she was freaked, then annoyed and then she kept trying to peel it off. I finally gave up and put her in my room.
I have signs up leading to the house "caution...macaw mayhem", "danger, bonkers bird...turn back" and a few others leading up to...."Do not enter...killer parrot...ow!...send help". Thought the kids would get a kick out of it leading to Rosie. But, no go. Maybe next year...
I LOVE IT!! It looks like Rosie was trying to dissect your face!! YIKES!! Happy Halloween! :)

Thanks Mare!
Hoping to get some good stuff from the kids. This is the first year both kids are out on their own. :( Hopefully they won't eat it all before they get home.
It has been extremely quiet here. We used to go through over 150 full sized bars and I bought accordingly. Mostly sugar stuff, which I don't like, so no temptation (I am a chocolate girl). I think we went through maybe 40. Jef said it's bc most of the kids in the neighborhood are in HS now or middle school. Our kids are actually in different neighborhoods with friends. So less kids here. I sent both my kids texts telling them to go around our neighborhood before they call it a night bc I know people will be dying to unload all the extra candy they are stuck with. I will unload all our extra to the dentists office, they send to the soldiers overseas. I love that program, it's a great way to show support, I send girl scout cookies to them too. :)
You are a sweety, Kendra. What a nice program to send the extras overseas :). Before you know it..your kids,,and everyone else's kids will be HAVING kids and the streets will be loaded with new trick-or-treaters!

Both my kids are adults now and don't go trick or treating. I miss going through the bags pulling out the good things I like.

I bet you can't wait to go through your future grandchildren's stash. :) I love going though it as well. This year they went to different neighborhoods and came home with very little. The people in my neighborhood are very generous, but I guess some of the others, not so much. So they really didn't have much I wanted. I think I ended up with one tiny box of milk duds. My daughter did go to a few houses here when she got home. One of our neighbors gave her 6 full size bars bc we had no trick or treat traffic. Sadly, she chose kit kats and snickers, neither which I am crazy about. Lol

You say you love candy but you don't like sugar stuff... you love chocolate instead - last I checked most chocolate has lots of sugar in it :D. Plus, despite your love for chocolate you don't like Snickers or Kit-Kat bars - aren't both of those chocolate-based candies? It's sorta confusing . At the very least I'd say that your sweet tooth is a bit hard to please ;)
As for your gory pic with Rosie... you did a nice job. I'm sorry that Rosie wasn't totally onboard with the plan :(. In the photo, she kind of looks like she's trying to express: "HEY! I didn't do that to you! Please don't give anyone the wrong idea!"

Ahh, yes I see what you are saying. I am extremely picky, pretty much with everything. But I am the worst with food. As far as candy goes, sugar candy to me is just that sugar...sour patch kids, twizzlers, laffy taffy, etc. I won't go for that generally. I LOVE chocolate, but it has to be good chocolate, and even then I'm picky. We have a homemade place nearby and that is heaven. Store brand I like Dove and Hersheys and Nutella spread. I really just like the chocolate, not stuff mixed in. Sometimes a Milky Way, 100 Grand or Twix, and of course Reese Peanut Butter Cups, but that is pretty much it. :)
Poor Rosie. Once I came up and washed my face she was so lovey. Lots of cuddles and kisses. It didn't even occur to me the makeup would freak her out. Dopey Mommy. And of course she was probably offended at the parrot signs insinuating it was her fault as well. ;)
Here is a pic of us once she got used to my face.

When I was a kid I also only liked chocolate bars with no stuff in it... kind of like you. While I don't eat much candy anymore, I actually quite like Snickers bars now - it would have been Milkyway bars when I was much younger. I, too, also really like Nutella spread. But I don't buy that much Nutella anymore either. A few years ago I was on a craze of dipping bananas into it. It was a pretty good combo!

And of course she was probably offended at the parrot signs insinuating it was her fault as well. ;) At least she doesn't get angry and overly assertive like Salsa when he rips my reading glasses from my face and then slings them across the room ;). If I tried that fake scar/blood thing on my face with Salsa he might try and make the opposite side of my face match with genuine modifications :th_eek:
