Well, it is mid October and we were finally getting some fall weather here in NJ. We were at my son's football game last week and I was actually cold. One of the mom's had a heated coat, which kept her toasty warm. I thought it was so neat I ordered one, thinking it would be awesome for the upcoming month or so of games spent on the chilly stadium seats. I also ordered a lava buns cushion which you heat in the microwave and is supposed to stay warm for 6 hours. I am so excited to try them out, bc unlike the rest of my household, I tend to chill easy.
Well, Mother Nature doesn't think I should try out my new toys this week. It is 84 degrees today. The dogs, Teddy and Bailey are walking around looking hot and miserable b/c I refuse to put on the air. Absolutely insane. A few years ago we had snow this time of year and this year we are sweltering.
Anyone else shaking their head at the weather lately?

Yes, I am walking around in shorts even though there are leaves falling down all around me. It's 24 degrees Celsius here in Canada. No boots or toques required yet.
Here in central Cali we got a bit of rain, cooler weather and HIGH WINDS! The winds aren't normal where we live in the foothills of the Sierra's. I walked the property yesterday and many of the old oaks have lost some large limbs, many across the dirt roads that criss-cross the property, some across fence lines..we've had some of the horses move across and thankfully not get cut up. Looney weather..no doubt!!
This is the time of year when a lot of folks get sick. It's Lysol season around my office at work.

A few weeks ago it got to 30s in the night time and never over 70 in the day.. but just this week it hasn't dipped below 70 at all! Crazy weather we're having here too!!! and I live in GA in the south.. crazy
We are beginning to see the leaves change in on the east coast!
Seems Winter is very near. Quite a cold day today. Getting out Lady's heavy cage cover to keep her toasty and warm. Hubby and I will be filling the house heater with water and get the rest of us up to a cozy temp as well. Our electric room heaters have been good to take the chill off early in the morning but it's time to turn up the warmth.

I'm freezing now, other than the hot flashes at night :th_wink: We are about -10 and 3" snow on the ground, and expecting another 5" tonight. Looks very pretty though.

Wet and warm here in the UK. When I say warm its 12 celsius (not sure what that is in $) at the moment (8pm). Sunny and cooler tomorrow and back to normal (cold grey and wet) on Monday. I have done my Christmas shopping today so I am a fortnight ahead of my usual schedule. :)
Heehee, I can't help myself.. Jean-Pierre, what's a fortnight? I suppose I could google it but want to ask you first :)

LOL, my parents are Scottish, a fortnight meant 2 weeks. My hubby used to say " I have to put that in my dictionary" whenever Mom and Dad came out with strange words. Strange to him, but normal to us. My Dad had a very broad accent and it could be difficult for others to understand. We used to tell people "nod and smile", he just laughed.
Thanks, Rosalyn :). Do you have a Scottish accent? I love accents, when Seri, on my IPhone asked what voice I wanted..I had no hesitation..Aussie..love that Aussie accent :). When I hear an accent in the room, I'm all ears, they fascinate me!

No, Mom and Dad came to Canada two years before I was born. My two brothers were born in Scotland, but they have lost their accent since. My one brother can put it on when he wants to though. He is actually very good at it. I couldn't hear Mom and Dad's because I was used to it, but when Dad would get together with his brothers and sisters, sometimes even I had a hard time understanding him.
I also love the Aussie accent, could sit and listen to them talk for hours.

We are getting hit with snow now. We had approximately 3" and it snowed all day today. We now have probably close to 10" on the ground and we are expecting another 5" on Saturday. Going to see if I can get some pictures tomorrow, looks really beautiful out the back.
We would love some photos, Rosalyn. The cold front weather is hitting the US, too..especially back east. Here in central Cal it is raining,,yay!!

We are getting hit with snow as well. Schools are closed. Highways are closed. I am with you Rosalyn, it looks beautiful. I just wish it would magically make a path for me so I wouldn't have to shovel. As much as I like shovelling, I don't like shovelling piles of it.

Oh yes Helena, I agree about the shovelling. I don't mind once or twice, but when you hit three or four in one day, I've had enough.

Advanced level fortnighting: In French it is called quinz jours (pronounced cans zyoors). But that is fifteen days I here you say. Yep, because the French recon that when you go away for two weeks you come back on the fifteenth day. :)

We are a strange bunch up here in Canada. For 4 - 6 months we shovel the snow off the driveway, then we get good weather like today and we shovel it back on.
Maybe this is over my head, but why would you shovel snow back onto your driveway?

Our snowbanks right now along the driveway are about 5 - 6 feet high and hard to see when you are pulling out. When it is sunny and above freezing we take snow from the banks to lower them and throw on the asphalt driveway to melt.
I guess it really did sound strange.
Now that you've said it that way, it kind of makes sense, although we usually spread it about the yard to melt. Back in my younger days we always built something with it.
