An article about The Fermi Paradox aka The Great Silence. The author, Ted Chiang writes the article in the first person as a parrot. It is beautifully written.

Wow, such well-stated observations about man's contradictory behaviors and his disregard for the wonders immediately before him. It's both puzzling and disturbing, isn't it? Chiang's use of parallels is impactful and he has most certainly conveyed some valuable lessons involving human absurdity. I love his choice of a dwindling parrot species to deliver the perspective. His expression of their potential views and the ignored role they might serve (absent human ignorance) is most impressive. But oh how sad I find the overall message to be :'(

Thanks for sharing, Helena.

Yes Tony, it almost brought a tear to my eye when I read it. It was both sad and beautiful. Chiang's ability to have the reader be able to see the paradox through a parrot's eyes is very moving.
