Although I like the name Shaggy, that our newest member of the family came with..none of the other members like it :(. They are suggesting "Sugar or Shugee or Sugar Shak". Shugee sounds a bit like Shaggy so I'm leaning that way..what do you think?..

I have to tell you something..today I was in the kitchen and hear from Shaggy's room, "Hello, Alex"!..I'm wondering if that may have been her name at one time?! I believe I'm her fourth home.

They do say that a found bird will tell you it's name eventually so you could well be right. However... Casper does call Margaret by name when she is not in the room. :)
I presume your bird does not look like this

Haha! Jean-Pierre, that Shaggy is exactly who I envision when I hear the name! :). We have a dog named Scooby, I suppose Shaggy COULD work! She's always been thought to be male by the previous owners,,until she laid an egg..

As far as her calling hello to Alex, you could be right..she may have been calling someone she knew.

I kind of like the name Shaggy. She was just moved from her home, into a new cage, new routines....might be kind of nice to let her have the familiarity of her name for a while.

FWIW, I kind of like the name Shaggy. Despite the Scooby-Doo cartoon character of the same name, I don't see it as really gender-specific. If it has been her name for a while and she doesn't have any bad memories associated with it, you might want to consider letting her keep it. BTW, the only one of my 4 who got a name change was Zaf.

That's a good point Helena,, "Shaggy" it is! I like it, too, because it's different..the fam will just have to get use to it! Thanks, guys!

She's allowing me to pick her up and we've been walking around the house, getting use to things. She's also showing me that she's going to be quite the cuddle bug!

I'd rather share that with you in a PM, Mare. I'll send it in a bit.
