Today is my 6 year anniversary as a bird mom. I can't believe that it has been 6 years since I brought Weasley home. It is hard to remember a time when I didn't share my life with these beautiful creatures, but I remember my early days as a young bird mom so well.
I say this every year, but I still remember so clearly the night I brought Weasley home. I remember the smallest silly details. That was such a wonderful day. Over the following days she quickly became my best friend.
Her time with me may have been short, but the impact she had on my life was so big. So, so, so big. If I would have picked out another budgie, things could have gone so different. But I didn't. I picked HER. And she paved the way for more amazing birds, and amazing opportunities. I have grown so much since I got her, not only as a bird mom, but as a person.
I miss her so much. I long to feel her adorable little feet wrapped around my finger, or her little body perched on my shoulder. But I have comfort, because I know that one day, when we are called home to heaven, that The Lord will have her there waiting for me. And she will fly to my shoulder, and I will be able to hold her once again and tell her how much I love her. And then, we will be together again in paradise for eternity.
Until then, her soul sleeps peacefully, and she is safely perched inside of my heart.
