Knucklehead, is still nesting. I had to take away his box of junk with the basket in it because it was too close to the side of the house, he started to chew on the outside wood paneling, YIKES! :(. Tim's going to have a FIT!..when he discovers this newest demolition by Amigo. I'll get up a pic, soon :(

I found a roundish sea shell and put it on top of his outdoor cage. He tucked it up on a towel and there he sets, for hours and hours...the knucklehead..

Poor Amigo, he wants to have his own egg to sit on so badly!! What a devoted Daddy he would be!! :)

He really would be a good daddy, Kendra :). Here is a pic of him adjusting the shell/egg underneath him. I wish I could get a pic of him dosing while setting..it's precious!

Question...is Amigo "setting" on an egg/shell or..is he "sitting"? I never know what's the correct way to say this :)

Setting seems to be a colloquialism or an Americanism. In English English we use sitting. I think I first heard "set awhile" on The Beverley Hillbillies :)

It might be worth filling the hole with some sealant to stop the bugs getting in, we had this lot eyeing up the missing tiles on our roof as a possible new home. The internet is wonderful in these situations, I was able to get in touch with a local bee keeper with a vacant hive so they now have a posh new home.

..and he is STILL setting! On the plus side..I'm not worrying about him getting into too much trouble. I do worry about his appetite not being what it was but I'm thinking that he's not expending the same energy as when he's grossing out the neighborhood! :)

Wonder when he will get bored and give it up? Better yet what if it actually hatched, if it were an egg. Would the male take care of the little one if the female wasn't around??

Joking aside, for example. Unique among Rose-Breasted Cockatoos, they have a Nursery type of Hierarchy within the flock dynamics, tending to each others Fledglings. And sitting on eggs.

That is one of the many reasons the Galah has been so prolific in their adaptability to civilization encroaching on their habitat. Whereas other species are endangered.

Amigo has been slowly losing interest in setting on a 100 degree egg/shell, I moved it off into the garden yesterday. It's been hovering around 110 for the past few days and even though his cage and shell are in the shade,, it's freakin' HOT! He still insists on being outside but I'll drag his complaining, panting body in during the hottest part of the day and let him back out after around 6:00pm for a couple of hours.

My daughter suggested giving him a fertile chicken's egg, a few weeks ago, but the fact that I brought him in to eat and sleep..it could never work..I told her,,end of subject!
