Thanks, Suzannne! You might not be able to tell but those planters are over four feet high. Over 30 years ago, I helped place those railroad ties..AND..walked ten miles to school and back!,,in the SNOW! :)

I used railroad ties to partition off the garden area from the grass when I first moved here 31 years ago. Then I learned years later those ties have arsenic in them but by then they were gone as they had started falling apart.

Does it count if I walked 2 blocks to my grammar school, and being in Chicago, snow was normal?

I've learned that about railroad ties, Renee! I was born in Chicago :). My folks moved us out to Cali when I was 9yrs. old.

I've just caught this thread, at first I thought the pic was a "where's Waldo" until I eventually found out what it was all about. My sudden laughter caused Margaret to look up and Caper to rush out from his latest carton destroying project to see if he was missing anything.
No need for sprinklers here, we haven't seen the sun for days and strong northerly winds have prevented a flotilla of visiting yachts to our moorings from returning home. Fortunately there is plenty for them to do as we are alongside the Chatham historic dockyard with several museums and old navy ships to keep them amused. All we can do when we go to their marina is go for a long walk and get muddy.

Do you live on an island =The Weald of Kent ?

The Weald of Kent is the valley between two chalk escarpments or ridges called the North and South Downs (logical eh?). The main river running through the valley is The Medway. People who live north-west of the river are called Kentish men and Kentish maids whilst those living on the south-east side of the river are called men of Kent and maids of Kent.

Casper is a Kentish parrot. :)
