Greetings people of PP! My avatar name's a bit long so I go by Snag for short. I'm 20 year-old young man with a deep appreciation for the natural world. As a matter of fact I've grown up with animals of all kinds, from spiders to horses, but birds have always held a special place in my heart. Currently have a 55 gallon aquarium of 17 fish strong, 5 chickens and 2 parrots. The latter of which are these two beauties.
Meet Leah (female Lutino Cockatiel) and Brazil (male Green-Cheeked Conure). They've been together for 5+ years and are as bonded a couple as you ever saw one. Undoubtedly would've have children by now if they were any closer genetically.

Been searching for a bird forum that's still active (tried some other places and they're long dead) and this place looks to be on the up and up. The main reason I've been searching for a bird forum is I need advice on curving bad behavior, as Brazil has been on a mean streak the past several years to the point where I can barely handle him without losing a chunk of finger. I'll go over more details on what's going on with my situation later.
With all that said, thanks for allowing me into the flock folks, hope to learn a lot here as I aim to strengthen my own birds' trust in me and my family.
Hi Snag,
Your flock is sweet! How wonderful that they are so close with each other. It will be fun to get to know you and how you came about these two fine looking birds.

Thanks. :)
Brazil came from a private breeder when he was roughly halfway grown from a hatchling and I hand-fed him from there to adulthood. He was the oldest of his brood and can be quite headstrong. He loves flying around the house and back to the cage on occasion, though this often results in landing on some family member's back and I have to wave him off before he bites. One of the behavioral quirks I need to work with him on.
I met Leah through a Craigslist ad. The people who had her clearly had no idea what they were doing. The cage was a mess, her feathers were in tatters with the tail feathers and vent being heavily soiled from runny droppings, and apparently they fed her nothing but saltine crackers and some seed. If that weren't enough, her parents must have been in pretty deplorable shape as well given how many deformities she's stuck with. A lopsided nare, crooked toe, and uneven wing (discovered when I saw she can't fly normally) are the major issues I've noticed, but she gets along normally otherwise. Very meek and reserved compared to her brash partner.

Hi and welcome
Casper gets rowdy just on his own at times, without any jealousy issues. He's OK at the moment, he just climbed from my wrist where he was preening his butt feathers and making typing difficult onto the top of the laptop screen so I can't properly see what I am typing. We have to work around him :)

Welcome to you and Leah and Brazil. PP is a wonderful place to gather information and learn form other members. I don't know how long you have had them, but before we got Charlie I read Birds for Dummies, it has a wealth of information for brand new bird owners to seasoned bird owners and there is a chapter dedicated to behavior and curbing unwanted behavior!
