Well, we just completed the first full day with Nike camping (We also have our dog Corbin and one of our cats, Fat Cat, who I have to give subcutaneous fluids to which is why she's along).

Anyway Nike has been great. She talked and made sounds for 3 hours, the entire way up here yesterday. I got her situated in the camper and the took her for a Pak-O-Bird walk which went off fine.

Today she spent 4 or 5 hours with us outside sitting in her cage in a screened in EZ-Up. She decided to tak a bath in the small cup in the Poquito cage....kinda prehistoric looking I think.

We then took a walk with Corbin and Nike in the Pak. At one point a loose black lab pup came up to Corbin and he was followed by his owner. As the two were walking away Nike blurted out "What are you doin?"

More pics to follow as the weekend progresses.

I was thinking about you and Nike and your trip today! I'm so happy that all went well, looks like a beautiful place to camp..?.. Dude! You took a hotel on wheels! That's not camping :).

Mare, one's definition of camping greatly depends on how old you are. We've done it all....now were old ;)

Oh..shut up! I'm so jealous! I imagined a tent, blow up mattresses, mosquito netting..you know!..with a picnic table beside it! I'm jealous of Nike! :)

Fantastic, glad you're all having fun. That trailer (or caravan as we would call it) looks very smart, is the big window on the front glass or plastic? And have you got a spare because at some point the spare will be worth more than the trailer.

Jean--Pierre,

It's all glass. Suppsed to be insulated down to 10F but we've just beeen in the 30's so far. Yes on the spare ;)

We took a walk with Corbin (rat terrier)and Nike in the Pak. At one point a loose black lab pup came up to Corbin and he was followed by his owner. As the two were walking away Nike blurted out "What are you doin?" Nobody has actually noticed that we have a parrot yet...I heard one person say as we walked by that I must have a puppy in the pack. :)

About to take another walk in a few but it's a bit hot, 84F at 11am

Looks great there. I'm sure Nike is enjoying all the new sights and sounds. Maybe keep an eye out for some branches that you could turn into a perch should you ever need one.

We went camping as well this weekend.. but I didn't bring my fid and I definately didn't have a camper! We took hammocks with us! Nash was happily at home with my dad and played all weekend.. He's even too tired to come out of his cage now and it's only 7 PM! He's sitting quietly and sleeping, I can only imagine Nike is tired too :P

Nike's a Cool Looking Bird Bill. I can tell your animals are well cared for. Did Nike's Back-pack work out as you intended ?

Yes, I'm happy with the Pak and I'm happy with the size. Since moving the perch forward she doesn't scrunch herself up against the back. She still squats at times but she's comfortable enough now to ride with one foot on the food cup or on the beak grab bar (I guess I'll rename it to the foot grab bar :))

She did spend a couple of hours in it on the picnic table and seemed perfectly happy. When she's in her cage on the table she spends the entire time clinging to the side in her "Please take me out" pose so I think she might actually be more comfortable in the Pak....plus no bugs.

She still takes some coaxing to get her into the bag but once in there seems perfectly content. I did have to retrain her once I got home because while camping I was mostly taking out of her cage and right into the pak and she caught on to that had started being very stubborn about stepping up.

Haven't taken a walk with her since coming home, been too busy and I head out again tomorrow, alone for a 3 day shooting match over the weekend so we wont walk again till next week.

The entire trip was a success with her as she was no bother at all though we were pretty much just lazin around. I expect she will always come on our family campouts unless there some planned activity which would not make that practicable.

My dog, Corbin is a veteran camper and even often comes with me when I camp alone. The cat, one of 5, was only along for medical reasons and I expect that will continue as well...she too was pleasant company and with only one cat, the cat box wasn't an issue either like they are at home.

One certainly has more freedom and flexibility without the pets along but then there's the stress of worrying about them if they're left to someone else's care.
