Please describe one or more bad habits your bird(s) may possess. I'll start by expressing one of Salsa's.

Salsa enjoys filling his clean water containers with any (and every) type of food. Consequently, I find myself changing his water continually. The water bowl in his cage is a heavy ceramic crock. When Sals is in his cage and I go to slide his soiled water crock out of its port, he'll run over to it, clamp onto its edge with his beak, then abruptly jerk the crock upward and drop it so the soiled water splashes in all directions (including my direction and his own). It never fails! The goop of the moment that he takes such great effort to concoct ends up all over me :(. And this big red clown clearly thinks it's hilarious. He can be quite a PITA at times ;)

Your turn.

Bentley starts to scream whenever we get incoming calls on the phone "very embarrassing" have to go in another room, or if my Husband and I are having a conversation.

Bella is still a baby she's busy exploring everything, when we are eating she try's to eat out of our plates by stepping all over the food yuck!

I get annoyed with Bentley Bird, His nick name is " Ducky Butt ".
He has to throw himself to the floor or bottom of the cage or anywhere he's perched, before he steps up. He manages to continually break his tail feathers , He looks like a duck butt, from behind.

Hence the Nick Name "Ducky Butt"

Kobi turns into a possessive monster when he is in the recliner with me. He wants the chair all to himself but he does not get his way.

Nash sometimes bites my hands hard if I have a phone or any type of electronic in my hand.. He thinks its part of the phone and bites it REALLY hard...

He also likes to chew off keys from my computer so I can never have him out while the computer is out. He stole my Power button key and I have yet to find it....

Sassy also does not like any electronics going on while she is with us, while with Tim especially, he will get a good bite if he talks on the phone while holding her..she likes his undivided attention :)

Tony, Sassy also soaks her food in her water bowl but she doesn't "douse" me with it! :)

Kiki used to pout horribly if my husband didn't wear the "right" pants for her to wipe her beak on after her supper. Not spoiled at all...

Charlie has taken to screaming when he feels that he is not getting attention. He does not like to be left out of anything nor does he not like to be the center of attention. In the research I have done I knew that cockatoos scream so I prepared myself for it. He can be very loud but I am able to basically ignore it. The thing of it is he kind of makes the craziness normal around here with all the other animals and kids running around.

He stops if he realizes it is not getting him anywhere or if he gets picked up. My bird has me trained well :th_laughing8:

Michelle, I think that if you can basically ignore it because of all the other commotion that is going on?!..Brilliant!! You've got it going on, girl!

You will learn what screams matter, what sound they make is more important than others. It takes time to read a bird and his sounds.

Thank you! I am learning that bird parenting is like kid parenting, you learn what the different cries are with kids as you learn what the different screams are with birds. Charlie basically has a shriek that means "um hello you are not paying attention to me" I am good at tuning things out I think it comes from being a 911 dispatcher. The nice thing is that if he does it while I am on the phone that I can go upstairs and close the door. I am glad I don't work from home though, I would have a hard time explaining what the cat like shrieks are :th_eek:
