Southern California may be in for a massive earthquake 8.0 magnitude...San Andreas fault is under extreme pressure locked, loaded, ready to go. scientists predict , could happen anytime. I live in the San Fernando Valley right along the fault line!!! :im-worried:
Here's the story:

We are in a very similar situation, Suzanne. Our local fault is a monster called the Cascadia Subduction Zone. It's predicted by experts as being overdue to produce a magnitude 9.0 quake.
Here's the CSZ report:

So far in my life time here California , I've experienced 3 big quakes , Last one was 1994 , and oh boy when that pressure erupts it feels like a bomb dropped ... then starts the rolling and shaking, at that point one really gets a sense of what is in control and how insignificant we are, in the evolutionary process. Nature always has the last word.

Do you both have a plan of action for safety if this is possible? Had one here in MD. a few years ago. I got nauseated and dizzy with a 5.4. Can not imagine higher.

Can not imagine higher.Certainly, planning as far as life-sustaining supplies and resources for the aftermath of such a devastating event is extremely important. I try to keep an ample supply of water and daily products on hand continually. The situation could be very chaotic and there may be nowhere to go should evacuation become necessary.
One of my worst fears is as follows. Since we can never know precisely when such a large quake may hit, and considering that my birds are out of their cages for the greater portion of each day, a terrifying shake up would certainly cause them to panic, take flight, and most likely collide with objects in my home. There is thus a huge potential for them to become seriously injured or killed. I think about this often and worry. I've not come up with any viable solutions yet. My birds cannot remain caged all day on the possibility of a gigantic earthquake occurring... but the potential for such an event nonetheless looms on.
I grew up in the Southern California desert and I remember quite a few tumblers rolling through there. Many of the older desert homes have fine cracks that run along the walls, near the ceiling caused by these shakers. Suzanne, if something huge hit your area..that would be rough, lots of people would be affected! I hope you have a plan!

Here in New Hampshire all we have to worry about is cold. If I lived on the west coast I'd be worried that it would be months before things get better given the magnitude of the quake and large impacted area. I'd have not only my pet supplies and and human food and water but I'd also have at least one generator (I currently have 3) and plenty of gas.

Bad part of apartment living is generators are not allowed.

I heard about that.. Everyone there is in my thoughts, sounds scary! I hope it never happens or gets over quick with as minimal damage as possible... but an 8.0 can't ever be a "quiet" earthquake...

In 1812 thenew madrid fault caused an eartquake in the bootheel ofmissouri that rang church bells in boston ,had sand blowing out of the grounds and made the mississippi river flow backwards for several days ! If it happens again st louis, mo. Memphis, tn will be gone we will feel it here in chattanooga too...

From what I remember about the program is that it went on for several days on and off.

Should buy more water and extra food for the animals. We recently purchased a generator. At least with Tornados and Hurricanes you get some kind of warning . Theyre all horrific.

Gosh, living in CA it is a fear. I wasn't here in 94 but live in SFV.
There is a very shallow fault under the Santa Monica mountains. That had a tremor & really felt close.
I guess I'm just hoping the big one holds for another half century so I miss it.
