You just never know what can happen.

As the kids were leaving for the bus this morning we got an email that school was cancelled due to an unforseen emergency. Lots of speculation and an hour or so later we found out why.

The superintendent of our school district was out for an early morning jog in town with his dog. They were hit by a HS student's car. She was rushing to get to school for a school trip that she was late for. Unfortunately, both the man and his dog passed away. Just absolutely insane how quickly things can get turned upside down. Makes all the small things we worry about seem completely trivial.

Make sure to let your loved ones know just how special they are to you. I am hugging my family just a bit tighter tonight.

You are right, it is very important to tell and show the one's we love how much they mean to us. I'm sorry for the family who lost both of their loved ones. Live life like it's your last day!

That's terribly tragic :'(. Many folks refuse to acknowledge to themselves how fragile life in fact is. The entirety of any one of us can be purged from this thing we call life in a matter of seconds. And there are a multitude of ways such can come about. It's precisely for this reason that I try to be an advocate for the safety of our feathered family members. Human, feathered or fury, loved ones are irreplaceably important! After such an accident it's often too late :(

How very sad. His family is hurting and I bet the girl that hit them will never forget.
