I just woke up at 3:30 am in full panic that my macaw was coming and I needed to get a outside flight done.
:th_omg:
OK One, I dont have the money for another bird right now, I don't care if its a finch! This dream was full color and I could even smell it! I have never had a dream this vivid before! Well guess I am up for the day. Now to figure out what to do....

So any way....I can now have a chain link outside flight set up in a couple hours if needed and a cage that would work short term for in the house if a macaw drops out if the sky. Yes I know the dangers of zinc and have a gal of vinegar on hand. May be I can sleep tonight...

There are ways to remove zinc;)... And I can hook you up with a macaw if you want lol! I mean I got people calling me all the time about there horrible big bad macaws and they end up being sweeties, so I am gonna be an enabler and ask what kind of macaw have you always wanted(just wondering)..
This gave me a good laugh Shelly, maybe something will drop from the sky or be delivered by a stork
Even though I just noticed I love the mark twain quote;)

Well my dream bird is a Green wing or a Big B&G. I take my birds to schools once in awhile for educational talks and I am working towards my Parrot Behavior Consultant. When I was a teen I worked in a small zoo and learned about clicker training and enrichment before it was even done in some of the bigger zoos. :) We had macaws drop off at the gate from time to time and I loved working with them. I just always hated the zoos policy of selling them once healthy to breeders :(. There was a Green Wing that cried like a baby when I had to hand it over to a guy who stuffed it in a cardboard box in the back of a truck.... I swore I would rescue one one day and be a for ever home, The funny thing is every bird I have was found and rescued (other then the parrotlet) when I was looking for a macaw. LOL
Yes I love Twain!

It's probably hiding under her bed;) look there first you may find a macaw or like a couple bucks... I get what you mean Shelly I am to as well once I am done with my veternirian assistant course and certified I will finish my certified avian specialist course I already studied for it and read the book often, but I need to finish taking the test:)! Let me know how yours goes I plan to do that course as well, and maybe become a DVM!

OMG it was a omen! THANK YOU Mare! She put me touch with a older couple who have a 25 year old B&G who needed a home soon. I will be taking him and there 30 year old Quaker who I guess is rather bald. :D She told me she was looking at placing her in a rescue, but at 30 lets keep them together. So happy! A little worried about the fact he is cage free, but we can work on anything that comes up!
Shelly, I'm so happy to see that this might work out for not only you but these birds, you are AWESOME!

Wow, you had that dream for a reason! And posted it here so Mare was able to help you find your macaw (and a Quaker, too!).
This macaw was looking for a home about 2 years ago, I was going to take him in but life threw me a curve ball and I couldn't do it. I contacted these folks, who live fairly close to Shelly, to see if they were still looking for a good home. These birds were on the edge of being sent to rescues. Thank you Shelly!
