Iiiiiiit’s Naruto! Yep, gonna stick with the naming scheme.

Such a lil sweetie. He just got all his feathers in, and still does the baby cockatiel dinosaur screech when hungry. Few more weeks and he’ll be ready to come home! He's getting the hang of stepping up and is snuggly.

(I know, I know, adopt not buy. He was paid for before I was educated on that, and now he loves me and has been acclimated to his name. So with me he goes, then no more bought birds, and I’ve made a donation to a licensed rescue as well!)

We actually don't know the sex, but I'm pretty sure birds don't have gender identities or pronoun preferences. What we do know is he's got some funny coloration! Looks likes a pretty normal grey, but on his neck has two light yellow patches, pic below.

Will they stay? Will they go? Do they mean anything? Or just for show?

Those yellow patches are called ticks and indicate that your bird is split to pied (another mutation) which means that he is able to produce pied babies while not displaying the pied coloration himself. Even though he is still young I'd be pretty confident in saying he's a male given the amount of yellow in his face. Pay attention when he molts if his face turns yellow then he is definitely a male if it stays the same then it's a female.

Please don't feel that you will be judged here on P.P. the important thing is, that you are aware of the overwhelming number of birds in need of forever homes and the importance of educating the public on the complex nature of bird ownership.

Ooooh neato! Thanks Robyn! Shame I never plan on breeding him. I looked it up and those are some huge ticks, his babies would be so fascinating :0

That section on adopting was because I ended up pasting this to my Facebook as well, where I do have a couple of judgy people >_> I know y'all are better than that.

He's a very fashionable young chap, I have it on good authority that those colours are definitely "in" this year. Spots are all the rage. :)
He's got a nice smile as well.

Riley is also split to pied and while I'm sure he would have pretty babies and his personality is one I'd love to pass on. I would not choose him to breed if I was breeding birds. He is on the smaller end of what even a female should be and despite good nutrition his feathers are not ideal. Not like Carolina's if I was breeding I would definitely breed Carolina except he's too old to breed at 18.
