We are getting ready for our spring break trip. Leaving next Friday for Tennessee. Really looking forward to it. We have been there a couple of times and it is just beautiful.
As Ashie and I were talking about what we would like to do, she requested a visit to Parrot Mountain. It is a beautiful facility high in the mountains with more birds than I can count. Parrot Mountain is actually what led us to bringing Rosie home. Ashie has always loved macaws, but it was there that she was able to really interact with them.
I recommend anyone who is in the area of Pigeon Forge, TN check them out. It's a great experience.
Should I get homesick for my diva at least I know I can go visit and cuddle with some of their guys. :)

Excuse my appearance. It was a long hot day and it was my first time really handling birds. I was a wreck. Never really cared for birds much until we met George, the M2 at Parrot Mountain. Funny how things can change so much in the span of a few years. :)

I wish there as a LOVE button on the bottom of the page instead of just like. I love the macaw that is just laying in your hands, totally relaxed. Thank you for posting about this place I think I am going to put it on our to go list for the summer (if I can bring myself to leave Charlie lol). Have a great trip!

I was almost going to go there this year.
Phoenix Landing is having an '/seminar type thing and I had it planned out, me driving, but with other stops that I have been wanting to do for years. Would have left on a Tuesday and not get home until the following Tuesday.
Then I got a call from my nephew that the high school band he is in will be playing there in St Louis the Thursday before. He was hoping his whole family would be there, how can I say no? We had gotten close during the period when my sister (his grandmother) was in hospice care so I need to do that for both of them.
Either too much time between those two events or not enough time. I have a friend who is willing to stop by and feed but that would have been stretching the time to ask him to do that for me, almost 2 weeks.
Maybe next time.
Wow! I sure wish I lived closer! Not been there but sounds amazing :). We have a friend in Tennessee, I'll have to tell him about it. He's never been a "bird person", per se, but when he visits us my birds glom onto him, they love him! I bet he will check the place out :)

Sounds so wonderful. I am happy for you and family that you can do things like this. My dream has been to see Costa Rica but my bank account balance says no. Anyway its on the bucket list.

It really is awesome. I love it. Jef and Connor not so much. I will take Ashie and go. Since we are heading to TN with 2 other families I'm sure they will get a ride with one of them and do something else. :)

That would be a cool design feature on a play stand, adding tiki hut roofs! Humm, my creative juices are stirring.
Parrot Mountain sounds (and looks) like a great experience! :D

The area has a ton of things to do, both fun outdoor things in the Smokey Mountains and things like Dollywood. So if anyone goes for a trip, you should have a great time.
Here is a link to a video posted on Bird Channel about Parrot Mountain:

So glad you mentioned this. We are only about 8 hours from the Smokey's, and I'm really wanting to plan a fall trip. My husband would absolutely love the mountains, and Pigeon Forge is great, so much to do. I wasn't aware of Parrot Mountain, but haven't been there in years. I hope I'm over my PTSD from the U2 before we go!

Kim - You will have fun! I just love the beauty of the area. I look out at the Smokey Mountains in the morning and just feel so relaxed. So different from our part of NJ - flat farming areas.
The birds all stay on their perches so you should be ok. If you feel super brave, ask to cuddle with George. He is an M2, just so sweet. He cuddles in and falls asleep while you give him scritches. Might help with your ptsd. :)
