Peanutbutter is about a year and a half old and if he is sitting on my knee and I make hand gestures while talking he will start bobbing his head up and down with his beak open and make chattering noises as well as say his name to the beat of the hand motions. He does this even if he is on me and my boyfriend is making hand gestures while talking or vice versa. Anyone know what this behavior is? I've tried looking it up but haven't found anything.

That sounds like he's trying to get you to feed him. How old is he? Was he hand fed?

May be his form of dancing. Cockatiels have a love for music and singing/dancing.

It almost seems like it because he chatters and talks while almost dancing. I was worried that it may be something to try and aviod.

Riley does the head bobbing a lot especially if he is getting told no.

It sounds like Peanutbutter is just joining in on the action :)

Perhaps he was taught to dance by his Dad. :)
