View Full Version : In-coming!
Let me know if I should post these photos elsewhere. We are not the norm and I'm not trying to make folks think that this is what you mean by free flight, by any means!
My husband and I had been working in the yard and Amigo was hanging with us. When we came in, he did, also.

There was a buzzard flying overhead in this photo, he thinks they are a threat when they really aren't, they're just bigger than he is. This is his alarm call stance.

Wow great photos! I have the same question as Terri, does he come right to you when you call?
Amigo does come when I call to him, not always landing on me but near enough to pick him up. When I'm walking around the yard, he will usually land on my shoulder without being called. He'll hitch a ride, for a bit, then take off when he wants. He seems to always know where I'm at and, normally, stays pretty close. :)

It's nice that you are able to let him fly free like that. Sounds like you have a great relationship.

Wow!
Thanks, I'm glad you all enjoy them! He's pretty special, (most days), when he's not, he's REALLY not! With the Sassy Goffin's, I would never attempt this kind of freedom.

He really is a lovely boy, I am glad to see him again. I wish I could meet him one day, he seems like a character.
Elizabeth, he is a character, sometimes more than I'd like him to be! If you ever get close to Yosemite, let me know, we might be able to work out a meeting. :)

Well, I live on the other side of the country, but if we get out there I'll look you up. The only time I get to travel is when showing with the horses. lol
What kind of shows do you do? My daughter use to show her quarter horse in reining/cutting. It was low key but she did well.

I ride dressage. I have a hanoverian filly that I bred, she is really a joy and we are showing with the intent to do national championships as a 5yo. We have a few other horses, but they mostly sit in the field. ;-)

Wow. Just wow!
Hi Kenny/mrgoogls, free flying your bird is not something to be taken lightly, nor, is it an easy thing to sleep well over. Only now, recently, after three years of flying Amigo, have I begun to relax. I love the fact that he is having a somewhat normal life that birds are born to have but the stress of allowing this is tremendous. Our relationship is tight and if that bond, with your bird, is not solid, please, don't even consider this.

I love the photos Mare!! Love the rock steps you have also.:th_heart:
Amigo looks so beautiful flying & in the trees like parrots were born to be seen doing. It would be so awesome if we all could give our fiddies the freedom Amigo has. :th_hug8:
I know both Roscoe & Leyla Belle would be in the highest tree they could find and I would be hard pressed to ever get hold of them again. If they did manage to live in the wild around here a hawk would get them in a hurry! I am very happy to just admire your photos and know that there are parrots who do get to taste freedom when they can.:th_biggrin:
