Hi, I'm new to the site! My name is Amanda and I'm from Columbus, OH. I have an almost 7 year old male cockatiel named Gizmo and will be picking up my almost 4 month old CAG on the 29th! Thought it would be a good idea to join a parrot forum to get some helpful info and tips and tricks for these 2. Anyways, glad to join the forum and can't wait to learn some great helpful info!

Hello Amanda. Thanks so much for joining us. Haha... I sure like the name 'Gizmo':D. When you get a chance we would love to see some snaps of the little guy. Wow, I can imagine how anxious you must be to bring home your new CAG baby. I'll be looking forward to hearing all about both of them :)

Amanda I welcome you and am glad you chose our forum. You will find very friendly members here. I used to have a TAG (timneha African grey) and think the greys are just the best. I bet you are excited. Love those cockatiels too. I am a senior so I do not acquire any more birds with a long life span, but I get so tempted.
Welcome! I too, love the name Gizmo :).and look forward to hearing all about him and your new expecting baby!

Welcome to the forums Amanda! I'd love to see your bird and your new bird coming in! I've never had those birds! I have budgies, an Amazon, and a severe macaw but I do know cockatiels are so cute! Good luck with your birds and I hope you love it here at PP!

Thank you all for the warm welcome! Sorry I haven't replied lately, I've been very busy! Unfortunately I cannot upload pictures of my babies yet but will be sure to as soon as I can. I've getting very excited and anxious to bring my baby CAG home on Saturday!! I've been doing a lot to prepare for her/his homecoming. Having my air ducts cleaned, bought a nice air purifier, some new toys, a new play stand on wheels so that she can be out of her cage and wheeled into any room we are in, and trying to read as much as I can about african greys and bird care & behavior.
I do have a question or two right now. I had a TAG years ago that unfortunately suddenly got sick and passed away :( I still have his cage which is a night large cage that I will be using for my new CAG. It had been sitting at my parents for a few years collecting dust. I have wiped it down with hot water and a rag. I would like to disinfect it and have been trying to read of bird safe solutions to use to clean it. Does anyone have any suggestions?? I obviously know bleach or any type of chemical is a big no-no and I want something that isn't going to rust or ruin the cage in any way. I've heard mixing water, hydrogen peroxide, and apple cider vinegar is good, has anyone used this?
Would also like to know what air purifiers people suggest. I bought one but will be returning it because it's not what I was expecting. I'm okay spending a couple hundred dollars on one and would like one that can do a good amount of space and isn't too loud.
Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
