Hey, everyone! So, I am wondering if anyone would have suggestions for me as to what kind of bird would suit me. I have a few cockatiels and two parakeets. I have plenty of space for a new addition. I have previously owned a quaker aswell.
Here's what I would like in a bird:
-something quiet. I don't like the constant chatter of a finch, nor the high pitchness of a quaker. It's best if you compare the noise level of any bird you suggest to cockatiel, parakeet, or quaker as that's what I have heard the most. I have zero problems with the sounds from my cockatiels or parakeets.
-something friendly. I want a bird who will like to come out and spend time with me. I also like birds who tend to be cuddly (allowing to be pet)
-playful. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my birds, but they don't have a huge playful factor.
I do not want any conures. I was going to get a green cheek, but read they can be very nippy and loud.
I am WELL aware that many of these factors depend on the birds personality. I would just like to hear some personal experiences with them.

Honestly all I have firsthand knowledge of is my 6 budgies, my amazon, and my severe macaw. Honestly out of all those birds the budgies are the loudest, my severe macaw makes noises and says words to get my attention. The quietest is the amazon, now he can be somewhat temperamental but only when he is hormonal. My zon will let me pet him, hold him, and so forth so he is pretty nice and quite aside from some episodes when he is angry. Sorry I couldn't be of much help.

Meyers is a beautiful, quiet natured bird if you can find one. I would try to contact a breeder.

If you read the, limited amount of info on yellow shoulder mazons, the one thing they have in common is that they are a quieter bird then the 'hot' 3 other 'mazons. I find that to be true, with Salty. Oh he gets loud when its dinner time, or when he is tearing apart his favorite toy, but more often then not he is playing quietly or eating (loves eating). Rare, so you'll not see yet another CAG or DYH yadda yadda. Not overly cuddly usually, but he has his moments. You could do a lot worse then picking a YSA. But let any parrot pick you, thats always best.

Cockatoo's have gotten a bad rap but in my experience with them..the only time they actually are loud is for a reason. They love to spend time with you and cuddle, hanging out with you is their thing!
