Are sea shells from the ocean safe once they are boiled? How long should they be boiled?
I see them on toys at the pet store and got the idea to make my own.

Not if they are thrown about in a very delicately glass fronted cabinet by a mischievous parrot. :th_wink:

No they are not safe. The oceans are full of little things that could harm a bird.

I thought boiling it would kill anything in/on the shell.

Well if you want to boil a sea shell I guess it would be cleaner. What happens to the small pieces the bird chips off? Will they be swallowed?
