I finally got a few pics of Nike putting up her head dress. I think that she was reacting to the multicolored afghan.

Do you think she may be reacting to the blue and maroon patches in the afghan?

Thanks all,
Jean-Pierre, it may be. She is however finally settling in and exploring more when she's out. Last night she was walking all up and down that chair, with me in it and even thought about walking onto the end table. She has also finally started tearing apart her pinata toy. Viewing the Hawk Head Youtube videos I don't think that it is out of the ordinary to display like that when they are enjoying themselves.

Yes she is. When she's mad she not only puts her feathers up but she hisses...very intimitating. She has charged me once or twice and for some reason has decided to hate my middle daughter.

She is simply gorgeous!

I was going to ask what the raised neck feathers mean. So it can mean either happy or angry?

I was going to ask what the raised neck feathers mean. So it can mean either happy or angry?Kendra, I think 99% of the time she's being defensive and then aggressive. Usually when they're up she's not going to back down. When they first go up she may make a complaining sound but that quickly changes to an aggressive hissing sound.

When these were taken she was excited but not aggressive.....at least I didn't test her ;)

Such a beauty! I'm guessing, Kendra, it's not a happy note..?.. So weird how they pick the one to hate!

Oh Bill please watch that pinta toy carefully. Several bird owners have reported pieces of metal inside them. A few flimsy strings holding them together were also found. If it's made in China I would not give it to her.

So I looked up the toy I purchased at Petco. Here's the Facebook page. It seems safe. My daughter is going to check on the packaging today to see where it is made...either USA or Mexico I think.

Here are some examples I am posting for you: 3638Bird died after playing with this Pinta.

3639This one was recalled from Petco because of very fine stitching to hold the hat on pinta.

3640a person noticed something inside the Pinta and it was a nest of some unknown critter.

Sorry if I scared you but your bird is too precious to harm.

Now after all that negative information here is a positive one. I could not resist making you a second signature choice with crest up. Hope everyone likes it!

WOW Nike sure is one beautiful bird!:loveit: Nice that she is exploring more and getting more comfortable in her surroundings. I bet your middle daughter is not to happy about Nike's choice. I wonder why birds seem to have to pick at least one person out that they don't want to like. I hope in time Nike will tolerate your daughter and not have any aggression toward her presence.
