Will you be glad when Christmas is over? Its a nice family time but in some cases there can be family squabbles. Got them here some and on Christmas day when we get together these issues are pretty much not talked about. I think others may have that also. I will be glad to see all the TV advertisements go away also. People that made the ads must think we all have enough money for a new car because so many of the ads are for them.
So I guess this is a bit of a holiday rant. Please feel free to add to this if you wish to

Spending Christmas in France is a good way of avoiding all the hype. It only lasts a couple of days and mainly involves eating.

This is not hype but I received a gift from a fellow bird lover and it included a hand painted tree ornament this person asked Maddy to paint. You can see it in this photo. It really is lovely and I will treasure it forever.

Well I cannot seem to post the image for some reason. sorry This is what I get when I try. Usually we can upload directly from the computer.

Ah yes the wine - it goes without saying in France. Now that we have Casper living with us Christmas in France is no longer an option. Can't take him with us without lots of hassle with CITES regulations, not to mention the 700 mile road/ferry/road trip to our friends house. And I don't think our local friends who look after Casper when we go away would be too pleased to have him over the Christmas holiday.

A note to all of our birds that had those "parrot moments"

Allowed Filetypes: jpg, jpeg, png, gif There was no browse like usual. Dianne: The reason you could not get to the browse-to-file screen is likely because adobe has relegated the status of your browser's Flash plugin to outdated. For reasons of security and safety, once a file transfer plugin's version becomes designated as outdated, browsers utilizing that plugin will automatically block it from running. And that appears to be what has happened in this case. It wouldn't work for me when I tested it, either. That is, it wouldn't work until I clicked on the plugin icon in the browser's address bar and selected "Allow and Remember".

I'm unsure which browser you are using, Dianne. But you should be able to do the same thing that I did. From then on, the Flash Uploader should be accessible to you. The other option is to simply click on the 'Basic Uploader' link in the lower right-hand corner of the Insert Image dialog. It will bypass the Flash Uploader altogether and allow you to browse your local resources for files to attach.

Below is a screenshot of both the Insert Image dialog box and the dialog option that I mentioned which will allow the plugin to run again. I hope it helps.

I will be glad when.....

folks remember that the gift from the heart is worth so much more than any gift from a store. Christmas begins with Christ. Family time together sharing, caring and loving each other all through the years!

I've finally gotten into the holiday spirit and believe me..it was a STRUGGLE!! My brother-in-law talked me into doing the Christmas Eve get-together this year. When the kids were young, Tim and I were always the family that did this but it's been about five years since I've taken this on. Long story, short..yea!!

Actually looking forward to having 23 folks in our home, once again :)

Everyone will enjoy themselves Mare, including your birds. What's for dinner?

I don't know about the birds, Dianne :). Dinner is not traditional AT ALL. I'm making Mac and cheese and a big pot of spaghetti and garlic bread. Wyatt, who is vegan, volunteered to make a veggie pot pie, apple and pumpkin pies, Katie is bringing a big salad, we've got family bringing veggie plates and dip and someone is bringing a seven layer bean dip and tortilla chips! I even bought "chinette" paper plates for the occasion! :).

We have the ping-pong table set up and Tim is looking forward to TRYING to kick some butt! Our 28 year old niece took him down last game and he's looking for redemption!

Sounds good. I made a dish of bean salad to take for our holiday diner. Lots of bean variety. No beano so we may be in trouble.

I had a hard time getting into the holiday spirit this year. It doesn't help that it is warm here, weather is calling for mid 70s and sunny on Xmas. Crazy!

Kids had a 1/2 day today and we took them to Philly to Dave and Busters. Jef thought it was odd to spend the day before xmas eve there, but we had blast. It was great to stop running, wrapping, baking, etc and just have fun. Maybe this will be an unconventional holiday all around for us. As long as you are with your loved ones, life is good. :)

Tim and I were just discussing how the winter pattern has changed between the east and west coasts! We in the west...FINALLY, have some snow in our foothills and mountain ranges and loving it! It's just astounding to me that you aren't getting blasted back east!.. sorry..?..

Today I saw a Robin. They are never here this time of year. We have roses and some flowers blooming. Nature is having a hard time understanding.

Do you have to return any gifts? I was surprised at the numbers of fraudulent returns people try. Some will even buy something, use it once and then return it. What next?
