I've probably mentioned this before but I made an interesting discovery last night, I was showing him U tubes of various lady vocalists and tried him on Adele (she sang the theme song to the latest Bond movie Starfall). The first video was just still pictures of various scenes I think, anyway it didn't get much reaction, but when I tried another one which was Adele singing it live he really got into it, lots of happy parrot noises along to the music. So this confirms that he does watch what is on the screen.
I tried others, Nora Jones and Shania Twain, we know he likes them because he enjoys the CDs we put on for him.
Then I thought I would try someone new and when I put on Amy Winehouse singing Back to Black he got really excited. [Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks]
I think he likes ladies with slightly earthy voices.
So, next week we have to go shopping for Adele and Amy CDs.

Casper has good taste!! Do you have the Pandora app? You can listen to the music for free that way. :)
Rosie has a preference for Zac Brown type music. Which cracks me up bc we never really listened to country before Rosie.

That song has a bouncy rhythm to it. If he likes earthy voices he should like Annie Lenox.

I will have to research Zac Brown, never heard of him but that isnt surprising as I tend to stick to seventies music/artists (still have vinyl collection upstairs).
mmm Annie Lennox... she had a voice like an angel, as pure as a bell, until she got throat cancer. But she still sings beautifully, I will see what Casper thinks of her when he has finished destroying the sole of my carpet slipper.

This is her favorite song from Tha Zac Brown Band. When it comes on she sings along. She is also a Jimmy Buffet and Bob Marley Fan.
Her absolute favorite since she was a baby is I'm Sexy and I Know It by LMFAO. I don't play it often bc she gets completely overstimulated. ;)

We tried Annie Lennox and I think I enjoyed it more than Casper, so then we tried Janis Joplin - Oh Lord wont you buy me a Mercedes Benz. Oh yeah, he really liked that, but having heard both, he prefers the version by Pink of Me and Bobby Magee.
Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) White Rabbit so/so. Karen Carpenter Only just begun sent him to sleep.

YES! Casper enjoyed that, screeching in my ear, giggling in a child's voice and reciting nursery rhyme in time to the music.

I don't know why, but there is just something about that Zac. I have grown to like his music too. He has a pretty big following with people my age in our area. Lots of people go to his summer concerts. That and good old Jimmy Buffet. ;) Although I have a feeling the tailgating is just as much of a draw as the music for Buffet.

Hmm I've been thinking, Casper gets really vocal when listening to Amy Winehouse and Janis Joplin. Both were wildchild geniuses who died young because they drank too much and overdosed on H. Do you think he can hear something in the voice - like some animals can detect cancers and other ailments?
What about Georgia boyo Zac, is he as clean living as he looks or is he a pint of rye a day man who is about to pop his clogs shooting up?
American English question - tailgaiting in England means following too close behind the vehicle in front. What on earth goes on at Jimmy Buffet concerts? In England the term could I suppose be used when about five people are huddled together sheltering from the torrential rain under the open tailgate of a shooting break/estate car/whatever they are called in the US drinking champagne from silver goblets whilst some sort of horse racing called point-to-point is going on in the background. I have done this but didn't know what it was called.

That is interesting.... I don't know much on Zac Brown. I know he is doing a drink responsibly thing but that's all I know. I am playing Rehab and Back to Black for Rosie now, she is listening. But not singing, but then she is sleepy.
Tailgating. American tailgating is also driving too closely to the car in front of you. But then there is event tailgating. In my part of the US it is a pretty big thing, at least since I was a teen. Concerts and sporting events get a good number of people cooking, eating, drinking and basically having a preparty in the venue parking lot before the event. Our friends were just at the Eagles games this afternoon and posted pics of a prethanksgiving dinner in the lot. They are season pass holders and tailgate every home game with a big group.
Now Buffet tailgaters are a whole different animal. They get crazy. Tons of costumes, props, and crazy drinking. By the time the concert starts half the crowd is stumbling around. My husband and I went to see him in Vegas and skipped the preshow Tailgate Pool Party. I guess most of the people went, and they were all having a VERY GOOD time.
Here are a couple pics I found on Google to give you an idea:

Buffet fans are known as parrot heads and it sounds like Casper likes the Blues singers like Janis!!!! That is great!

Charlie - we like Buffet and have the Margaritaville station playing most of the summer. It always makes me feel like I'm on vacation. But I am not a true diehard fan, never thought of myself as a parrothead. Then I thought about one of Rosie's favorite perching spots...the top of my head. Ha! So I guess I am a parrothead after all. :)

Casper is enjoying the Eva Cassidy DVD that I got for Christmas. It comes with a couple of CDs as well. He has been a great fan of Eva for some time now, she had a really beautiful voice - another one who tragically died early (of cancer). Have you listened to her Dianne?

This morning Casper is enjoying Adele's album 25. He really enjoys shrieking along to the "sing it with a cry in your heart" way she performs. I find her rather grating after a while so he is having the more relaxed style of Joan Armatrading next. I'm in charge.

This week Casper has been shouting along to You Tube in the evenings. His fave tunes have been Elkie Brooks sing Lilac Wine [Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks] and Grace Slick with Jefferson Airplane singing White Rabbit [Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks]
This morning a CD I ordered came in the post, Herbie Hancock's River. Casper was vocal for the first track joining in with Norah Jones (he loves Norah even if she doesn't get the words right in his opinion). Then he fell asleep - it is a rather relaxing jazz album. :)

My birds like watching videos on YouTube as well. Must be the movement as well as the music because their eyes are glued to the screen. Joey will even rest his beak against my cheek and the music I listen to is not as low key as what Casper likes to listen to. I think that birds innately have rhythm....no matter what the beat is.
